Titanfall PC Discussion

I've been playing the Titanfall beta these last days quite a lot. Although the gameplay is solid I found that the 2 maps that are in the beta became quite boring. But that might just be because I played these maps too much. The servers (West Europe) were very stable during the beta, at least I had only once a short connection issue during the game but gameplay resumed quickly after that. I'm more worried about how much EA will push for DLCs in the future. I hope Titanfall will not become like Battlefield were the purchases of DLCs is pretty much mandatory. I'm looking for a good shooter to replace Battlefield 3 and I think it might be this game.

Just spotted this thread. I would absolutely love to have a go on Titanfall PC Beta, but haven't managed to get a key yet. I've done research on it and its fast pace and tactical gameplay really seem to be something that's fun and just works. I'm a bit concerned that there isn't a lot more to this game than we see in the beta but I'm itching to make a WPC Gang and get playing!

The game is definitely an adrenaline rush. There are moments where I'm like "how did that guy not die??" when he turns and kills me but I don't get as frustrated as I used to in BF3 or CoD:MW2. I find this game just seems to have a fun factor to it. I mean yesterday, there was one moment I jumped out a 2nd storey window just to shoot up a guy jumping into the 1st storey window mid-air. Then moments later you can be in a face-to-face duel with a titan. Not many games that can have moments like that. Just a mindless shooter to enjoy I guess. I kind of look at it like TF2. If anyone here gets it on PC, it would definitely be cool to get a group going. Help carry me to victory ;)

I also have concerns about the DLC that will probably come out. No doubt EA are doing their happy dance in preparation. I guess I'll just play what I can and enjoy the base game as is. I never bought into BF3's DLC but still had a decent time with that game.

Yeah but I'm a bit worried how long I can enjoy the base game of Titanfall. I had the limited edition of BF3 (comes already with 1 DLC) and I enjoyed it a lot, but if I want to play it now I really have to buy the other DLCs because there are just not enough servers to play on with just 1 DLC. I really hope that EA won't ruin Titanfall like that were I buy the game for ~50 euros and pretty much have to buy all the DLCs for another ~80 euros to be able to keep playing. And 1 month after they release the last DLC they announce Titanfall 2..

There is a pretty solid rumor that there will be 14 maps and like 6 game modes in the full game, as well as like double the weapons, triple the titans and several more perks too.

But you are right that the basic idea doesn't change as is usually the case with shooters, but actual content wise there's plenty more.

I think Titanfall (on both PC and One) is easily one of the best games I've played the last decade. It still surprises me daily how just rock solid the game is.. at this day and age it's very rare :P

You can get the game pretty cheap digitally from places like CJS CD Keys or equivalents, it's cheap enough for me to encourage anyone even mildly interested to give it a try, unless you are somehow on an extremely strict budget.

Zampella said on his Twitter that it's just 3 Titans total.

Indeed, triple out of 1 is 3, afaik :D Although you could access them with burn cards, they werent really available. I really liked Stryder when I got to try one. Went 19-2 that round :D

I'm looking forward to trying out the Stryder myself. That mobility looks really nice and that extra dash could come in handy in a pinch.

Alright, I got my copy a day late on Saturday. I managed to complete both sides of the campaign last night. The extended scenes before and after each battle are nicely done. I kind of wish there was a bit more to the campaign gameplay than just the two MP modes. Perhaps something like unique or contextual objectives for each faction would have added more depth to it. Maybe something like escorting a pilot or titan to destroy an objective for a massive score bonus in attrition. Something along those lines to focus the battles more than traditional MP modes and to compliment what the voice overs are saying. Then again, I guess it would have been tough to come up with something like that perhaps in terms of time or budget. Just seems like a missed opportunity though.

Other than that, the game is well polished and plays phenomenally well. A pure adrenaline rush and a very dynamic experience; from the stim infused wall-running double-jumping speedster of a pilot, to the behemoths of the larger scaled titan battles. Nice selection of options to accomodate various playstyles. The maps are also well designed too, offering many ways to navigate as well as looking the part. The gunplay is very solid too and I think the weapon balance is just right. I'm not too sure how I feel about the amped weapon burn cards though. Weapons become insanely powerful but at the same time I feel they are balanced by the one time use (assuming you die). I think the other passive burn cards like speed boosts, time-off titans etc would have sufficed, but on the other hand I guess the amped weapons are rewards for good play.

Overall, it's a very fun experience and it will definitely be my MP FPS game of choice going forward.

I played the beta of TF and it just didn't do it for me... kinda as if COD had relations with mechwarrior... I didn't care for it.. it was okay.. Just not my bag.. Back to BF4 I suppose.

Did you try much wall running? The main reason I ask is because I really don't get the COD comparisons. I mean, sure if you stay on the ground. But it's a FAR DIFFERENT experience when you go vertical.

It's also at such a frantic pace that in some ways it's more like Halo than COD.

I'm very unnerved about this game. Is it possible to order a CD copy and avoid Origin? If there is then I may get Titanfall. Be good to try and get my Orbweaver running in some more games.
