I'm just looking for some comfort. I purchased an 8X and customer support told me max speeds I'll be pulling in my area are 6mb/s

OP you must live in an older area because the 8X is an HSPA+42 capable phone. On my HD7 which is only HSPA7.2 I sometimes pull in speeds faster than that. That being said 4mb isn't bad either as that's way more than capable of streaming and the like.

weird, on the coverage map it shows there is about 4 new towers in by city alone.. They said this is normal too....

If you're not in an HSPA+42 area, but just an HSPA area, you're going to have slower speeds.

That said, they're updating the entire network to light it up with HSPA+, so you'll likely have at least 24 Mb/sec before you know it.

I'm so excited normally I pulled 4-5mbps MAX today I pulled 6.5mbps while at work @ roughly 4AM!!!!! omg :)

The T-mobile HSPA+ coverage has also been increased exponentially in the last year and is now about 1% less coverage than other networks. It might also be possible that you're pulling in the HSPA+ on the new PCS band which isn't dual carrier yet.

Location: San Diego

At work I received 10.7 Mb/s down and <1Mb/s up lol.

Still more than acceptable for me considering I don't upload that much stuff. I think my home speeds are slightly worse but I'm usually on wifi there. The big test will be over the holidays when traveling to Arizona...

Ok at home in getting 5.2mbps consistent! I'm sooo excited xD slight improvements ftw.
