Trackpad delay after inactivity, normal?

I got the keyboard and one thing that has been really annoying me is that after about 10 seconds of inactivity and I try to move on the trackpad there is about a 1-2 second delay before it responds. Is this normal? It seems like the cover is going to sleep but typing is fine. The trackpad still has the delay even when I'm plugged into the charger

It might be the following setting: Find the trackpad in device manager and look at the properties. Uncheck the setting that says something like "allow this this device to be turned off"

That box is greyed out so it's not a possibility
