Upgraded from Win7 to Win10 and lost the ability to have the onscreen keyboard be touch activated?

In Win7 (using a touchscreen) the onscreen keyboard hid in the left screen margin. If you touched anywhere along the left screen edge it would pop out. The reason I like this feature is because in Firefox I use Fn + F11 and the address bar up top and the dock below disappear. Therefore if I needed the keyboard at anytime all I had to do was touch the left screen edge.
In Win10 I can't seem to find a way to activate the keyboard in the same way. I see the keyboard icon on the bottom right dock but when I use the Fn + F11 option the whole bottom dock disappears, so then I can't access the keyboard icon.
Anyone help me with getting the keyboard touch activated again?
Thanks!

But... Even though the dock disappears... When you select with your finger where you want to type, doesn't the keyboard pop up?

Thanks ttsoldier for the help, but no it doesn't. Even that would be helpful, but I can't seem to get that to work.
