Just picked mine up and, . . . . . . WM 6.1 :eek::thumbsdn::censored:

But at least I got it today! And seeing as how on the main page here, the VZW TP2 was available YESTERDAY, and now SOLD OUT AGAIN today. wow!!!!!!

Now to get used to this thing, after quite some time with a BB Bold!

No 6.5 Rocky :( I want to say I feel bad for ya but I want 6.5 on my Sprint version so bad I can taste it. I hope Sprint releases the update soon. My Nephew is getting the AT&T version just as soon as they are available to the GP. I am going to have to listen to his ribbing from that moment on till Sprint releases the update. I can hear it now does your PPC (Pocket PC) have 6.5 no I don't think it does!!! lol

Well Big D5, a couple of things:

* I HAD been hoping that the excuse VZW had for being out of stock on the TP2 was not out of stupidity, but was because they were installin 6.5 on them. guess I was wrong :(

* let him rib you all he wants! Then turn around and call him from your Sprint TP2, and when his does not ring cause of poor reception, look him in the eye and say "can you hear me now? I don't think so LOL"!

* if the pics and reports are correct, that the AT&T TP2 has a chrome keyboard, again you can laugh and ask if he will put 30 "inchers" on it (huge sized chromed wheels pimp daddies put on their SUV's or Chryslers). In the race car world we used to say "if it don't go fast, chrome it" ;)

As for this phone? It is jaw dropping blowing me away compared to my AT&T BB Bold!!!!!! My wifi connects to it better and is even useable, but i found that the VZW 3G is even faster, and way more stable than the AT&T was, and never once dropped down to EDGE mode (if the VZW even has that???). I can now get REAL web pages which also load up so fast, and even videos that never stop to buffer or skip a beat. And I haven't even scratched the surface with this phone yet - WOW!

Oh, and already installed that SPB shell and holy cow, this phone is amazing!

My only complaint so far though, is the actual phone part of it. The voice quality seems a bit like in a tunnel. But once I turned off the auto tweaks for the voice (noise reduction I think it was), it sounds a bit more normal.

Does the AT&T Version has a 3.5 headphone?

Got mine yesterday as well and have been loving it. As for 6.5. Not sure what all the fuss is? I had (still have, but will ship back on Monday) the Imagio. Whats the big difference (im referring to OS versions)? Very minute that I have found to date. A few extra features with email and UI. But nothing major that I can tell so far. Can someone tell me what Im missing? And YES, of course I still want it since it is the newest! One thing I have notice is the TP2 touch screen is way more responsive than the Imagio- weird since they shouild be the same I woiuld think. Anyways, loving the phone. BTW, Im coming from bbCurve, Storm, bbTour, Storm.

I'm not sure what the fuss is about either. When I updated from 6.0 to 6.1 on the q9c (had to, 6.0 had some issues with texting that caused the phone to freeze), I lost some of my apps that would no longer work (like the youtube player where you could download the whole file to your phone and then play it so you wouldn't have worry about buffering/ lag).
I'll probably wait to update until I'm sure everyone has caught up with the new os.

I have better performance (graphics are smoother), better battery life with many of the 6.5 and the 6.5.1 builds, gone is the ugly white start menu, more finger friendly interface, stability improvements (far fewer application hangs than 6.1)

The biggest difference in 6.5 is the enlarged finger friendly menus and some other tweaks, improved IE and you have a choice of how to interact with it. Touchflo, Chome (default windows kind of like the Zune hd) or the classic window mobile today screen. (changed in today settings.)

Not having 6.5 is BS

How can they (verizon) claim they are testing the windows mobile 6.5 software when it's out on the Imagio ALREADY!!! What's there to test they've already pushed out the software!? The phones really are not that different besides a touch screen everything else is the same. This is another crappy reason you get from corporations.

I actually heard that there is a problem with the firmware. Apparently, WM 6.5 was burning out the screens on the TP2. Apparently, they are awaiting a firmware update for the phone to make it compatible with WM 6.5.

Let me tell you what I think is going on. The big 3 that released the TP2 early are most likely bound by contract to run on the currant OS for a pre determined number of months or devices sold. This was most likely a pre determined time frame set down by HTC set to cover the cost of RAD of the currant software running on the devices. Once the correct number of months have passed or maybe a certain number of devices have been sold running the currant OS then the Big 3 can freely upgrade to WM 6.5. It would be to no ones benefit to release this information that is why we keep getting all these excuses because no one really knows for sure accept those involve in the contracts. MHO

I'm not having any hangups on winmo 6.1, though better battery life would be nice. Anyone know when sprint is going to have it?
