Video port confusion

I just placed an order on a Surface 2 and now I'm eagerly waiting for it to arrive. I'm trying to figure out if there's any peripherals I should buy while waiting but I can't get a clear answer as to what kind of port the video output is. The Microsoft web page just states 'HD video out' but I read somewhere that it's a regular micro HDMI port and someone else said it's a 'Mini DisplayPort'.

So, could anyone please clarify what port it really is?

If it's a regular micro HDMI port all I need is a super cheap adapter to my HDMI cable. Rather not fork out the $39 Microsoft is selling their adapter for.

It is micro HDMI on the Surface 2 and mini displayport on the Surface Pro 2 :smile:
