My Toshiba laptop is on its last leg. I use it for apps development. I was wondering if i can buy S3 and install these and comfortably run VS and Android studio?

Has anyone tried running these tools on it?

Visual Studio Runs just fine for small/medium projects. Installation takes forever and the initial startup is a little slower, but I haven't had any reason to not use it for mvc web app development. This was actually one of my concerns when I purchased it.

I have not tried Android Studio yet.

Great, thank you for the details. Can you please confirm if you can run windowed phone emulator on it? This requires hyper-v and slat on the processor.

I have not run windows phone emulator. None of my current work involves phone development.so I'm not sure if it will work.

Sorry I cant answer that one.

Surface 3 does not support Vx-T virtualization (well, the hardware does, but the firmware turned it off with no setting to enable it), so if the Windows Phone emulator requires the Vx-T, it likely will not run.

Thanks this helps.
