I'm trying to set up some Vms that are 64bit but I'm getting the following error
This virtual machine is configured for 64-bit guest operating systems. However, 64-bit operation is not possible.

This host supports Intel VT-x, but Intel VT-x is disabled.

Intel VT-x might be disabled if it has been disabled in the BIOS/firmware settings or the host has not been power-cycled since changing this setting.

(1) Verify that the BIOS/firmware settings enable Intel VT-x and disable 'trusted execution.'

(2) Power-cycle the host if either of these BIOS/firmware settings have been changed.

(3) Power-cycle the host if you have not done so since installing VMware Workstation.

(4) Update the host's BIOS/firmware to the latest version.

Its a fairly new SP3, so I haven't made many changes to it. I'm running Vmware workstation 11.

Any suggestions or advice. I have to believe its a setting because a brand new computer that is running Haswell CPUs must be able to run 64bit virtualization.

I was able to resolve it, after doing more googleing. I'm still a little astounded that this work, but hey, Ubuntu is now installing.

I installed Microsoft Visual Studio including windows phone SDK (this needs to be included). I then disabled Hyper-V by issued this command in an administrator command shell:
bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off

If you wish to re-enable it, you then issue this command
bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype auto

Credit WinSupersite for the tip (link http://winsupersite.com/mobile-devices/surface-pro-3-tip-hyper-v-vs-connected-standby)

Once I rebooted and restarted Vmware, I was able to boot up Ubuntu and start the install process.
