Volume turns up by itself!?

Ok sometimes when I am listening to my music, I go to press the button to increase the volume a bit. However, the volume keeps increasing all the way to 30 by itself, when I only pressed it like 2 or 3 times. Is this a hardware issue? How can I prevent this from happening?

Are you listening via headset/Bluetooth or by phone internal speaker ? Did you tried a soft reset ?

Its always been like that. I can remember it happening only when I got my ear buds plugged in. I've tried several different ear buds with my phone, and the problem persists.
