W10M - New features listed (compared to WP8.1)

Re: Windows 10 for Phones - list of new features

Anyone know how to get the universal apps? I want to check out the new Email and Calendar client!

Re: Windows 10 for Phones - list of new features

I use to love swiping in the dialer and other stuffs like photos app settings there is no swiping now please try to include swiping maybe in next few builds

Re: Windows 10 for Phones - list of new features

Resuming is now gone. The apps simply restart and go back to it's exact position. Unless I'm getting crazy that's what I seen lol

Re: Windows 10 for Phones - list of new features

Hi guys, I searched the forum but couldn't find a list of new WP10 features to look forward to when the preview launches later today. Does anyone have a link?

Edit: I couldn't find a simple list, so here's my version, with help from others in this thread:

- new fullscreen background option on start, with parallax when swiping sideways but not for up/down
- new large tile format: wide, square (2x2). Select MS apps only for now
- a new full-featured file explorer!
- more quick settings toggles in action center
- improved settings menu (finally!)
- Lumia camera app is now the default
- hints that inking support is coming!
- linear brightness slider instead just three settings
- actionable notifications
- synced notifications with Win 10
- new universal calendar, photo's, email (swipe to flag/delete), word, powerpoint apps
- changes to calculator, timer, stopwatch, and world clock, apparently
- new music app (not included in preview)
- dictation via keyboard anywhere you can type (Speech To Text, STT)
- detach keyboard (large screen phones only?)
- live interpretation of swype gestures
- fine cursor button / pointing stick on keyboard
- Skype and other messaging integration (again)
- new browser engine with Apple HLS support (no Spartan yet, just the new engine)
- device encryption option under Settings/System
- phone reminds users of their next calendar item during shutdown
- press and hold bluetooth toggle links to bluetooth settings

Please post here if you spot any other changes.

Bro, please add screenshots, which are not shown in WC articles,

Ditto!

Re: Windows 10 for Phones - list of new features

Please could someone with Win10 for Phones tell us a little more about the new Outlook Calendar & Email Apps...

For example, do they have options to show more info on the live tile?

Is Quiet Hours still linked with Cortana?

By the looks of it - those apps aren't included yet.

Re: New feature added to action center.

That sounds like a big improvement over 8.1.
In 8.1 a single tap turns on WiFi, a second tap takes you to WiFi settings.
I don't like that. No way to turn off WiFi in the notifications center.
Bluetooth one tap to turn on second tap to turn off.
It doesn't take you to settings at all.
Not a very well thought out design.
Edit.

Sorry, not sure what happened it should of quoted Jugal's post.

I prefer this method. I use it every day in my other phone.
Its an Android phone made by LG.

I don't think it's bad for Windows phones to become more Android like, as long as they implement it in away that doesn't distract from the Windows phone design.
