WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Finally saw the last two lighthouses to complete the list of all Oregon coast lighthouses. The gap between the two visits was mere 16 years...

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Did you get any pictures of the lighthouses?
Yes I did. I'll post them next week. One was difficult to capture as it is in the ocean about a mile from the coast and it was quite hazy. The other one I have a clear shot.

Awesome! I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures.

It's a holiday for many Americans, since 4 July is a Saturday.
In Canada they normally move it to the Monday.

It was Canada day on the first.

When I have to work Fridays it's always a rough week lately...

If a holiday falls on a Saturday, it is moved to Friday. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, it is moved to Monday. (policy for most US holidays and workers who work Monday-Friday).

Many of our holidays have been transferred to Monday already (MLK, President's Day, Memorial Day, Columbus Day). We used to have separate Washington and Lincoln birthday holidays. Memorial Day used to be 30 May. Columbus Day used to be 12 October.

Labor Day has always been on a Monday.

Veterans' Day is 11 November.

The mention of lighthouse made me think of this.

I stayed at a B&B that is at the lighthouse.

I'd like to stay in the former living quarters of the lighthouse keeper in a decommissioned lighthouse.

There is a hostel in Monterey CA which is in a lighthouse. I almost stayed there a few years ago.

This lighthouse is still working.

They have a few rooms. I'm trying to remember everything. Seems like a long time ago....

The picture is from May 2009. A lot has happened since then.

Hi all, bit cooler today in the UK at 25 Celsius. Sure makes a big difference!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

They're celebrating July 4th here. We have a BBQ going. Was a bit pricey though. Decided to go for the fish and chips. :P

Nice sunny day though! :)

What a pity I'll spend 5+ hours today traveling. Public transport is slowly wearing on this veteran indeed. Oh well...

Whenever I take a road trip, I'm often reminded of how much 'Murica is an endless sea of small towns, interrupted by the eyesores/beauty spots that are big cities. Sometime Small-town USA is cute, other times it can be stifling.

Sahib, sometimes I cannot blame you for your small town, but you need to see the sea (the world).
