WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

The last company I worked at the guy sitting next to me married someone at work. Different departments though so they have little contact except through the internal messenger. They also have a separate social lifes and interests. Which I think is important.

At another company I worked at there was a couple there who've been together for over 20 years. Same situation of having little to no contact during work hours. I believe that's where I got that information from. I think I asked him about it.

I've never had much opportunity to meet someone at work simply because of the work I do. These days it's changed a lot from when I started though. For the better as far as I'm concerned.

I do know though that when things go south they go real bad. Having that at work is not something anyone wants.

Wow that's really interesting that you know of two success stories. I agree with you on the importance of separation.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I guess it depends on the culture in your company. I married my wife who works in a different department some ten years ago.
There is little contact between our two dept....
But things changes... A few years back, she got transferred to my department. It's not a problem cos the bosses think a having a couple in the same dept is OK cos they trust us!!

... !

Whoa, you two seem to have endurance. I'm guessing it works because you two don't talk about work outside of work (and other reasons of course)?

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Thanks for reinforcing the common point: distance and separation (i.e. not in the same department).

So my GF and I were in the same department. But due to the differences in our jobs, we weren't directly around each other all the time. We would cross paths all the time though. Now, people in the office thought we should date because they suspected the GF was interested in me.
Even then, she had a moment where she called me by a nickname she uses at home once. Fortunately, not a lot of colleagues were around.

I often would have to deal with the rumors, never confirming, often deflecting. It was a running joke amongst some of my immediate team members. I'd hear it more when we were both took time off at the same time. Because of who we were at work, if it came out it would have been ok, but sometimes colleagues acted like they were in high school and staying quiet was best. We both had good reputations as being professional and wanted to leave it at that.

So even in a setting like that, it took maturity and a high level of discipline and discretion to maintain.

Yup, don't do it. As even with all of the above, if it went south while I worked there, it still at best would be very awkward.

I'm glad that it worked out for the two of you in the end. It sounds like you had a range of attitudes with your coworkers when it came to this.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

You know all this time where you see in TV shows for a stereotypical corporate work place; I'm starting to see they aren't that far off. Here I thought they were exaggerating. Water cooler talk, suits and ties, call center, meetings, and casual Fridays...... Casual Fridays. I feel old lol

We had nosy co-workers who needed to be kept as far away from our business as Mr. Trump to beauty pageant dressing rooms or microphones or Twitter.

I go to these once a month.

Get used to dealing with this sort of Cluster****s as you're gainfully employed now...

I do miss my windows phone but now that I'm using android it's not so bad. Still wish for live tiles and windows phone glance feature instead of the AOD.

Hey guys (and Libra and Laura). The wife decided to bring me my Macbook to keep me busy and from climbing the walls. The inevitable has happened and I'm hoping to go home tomorrow. I've been locked up in the hospital after my 2nd heart attack. I'm OK, I'll probably outlive you all.

Used the Firmware finder app and updated both MediaPad M5 units to the latest software version. Nice to have 8.0 Oreo and June security patch on the devices.

Now that I have a work phone provided by my work I have to use the Samsung s7 and even though it has bloat I guess touchwiz isn't sooo bad it's bad but not as bad as I thought

Oh, I hope everything's fine. I wish you a quick recovery.
And I know how boring it is to be stuck in the hospital, I've walked more mileage in those 11 days than I did in the past year.

Have you tried Xiaomi's phones? MIUI is insanely quick and responsive. And not to mention it's gorgeous and stuffed with (useful!) features.
