WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Took some initial snaps but are unable to upload. Seems ok; let's see how they stand up to Greek food.

Figured out the problem. File size is too large and the site won't compress normally. I may edit and try to reupload. I took some similar shots with the Pixel 2 yesterday after work but was just too lazy to upload them.

Still not a fan of this screen. Sony's UI feels really old - especially since I've been using it for 4+ years.

I like the pictures on this thing. Still feels like the Pixel is better, but this camera is much better than the Z3. I shoot in manual mode. Camera app is still frustrating as I remember. Super slow mo is fun to use.

It continues with the trend of a "really solid phone" but not a gangbuster based on who the target audience is.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

The Skagen is surprisingly nice so far. The day is still young though.
I think I'm going to get my regular battery life here. It's not going to be as great as the Huawei watch 2, but it'll likely be on par with the Fossil. It's very light and comfortable to wear.

The new update really made both my Fossil group watches more tolerable. So I'll be good using these. I just need to get the two bands I wanted for the Skagen and I'm all set.

That's good that you get to play with manual mode, as it sounds like that's probably a decent experience.

Ah, that must be annoying. Why does it seem harder to find the one that really nails it, minus one thing?

The camera has been an issue on Sony phones for so long now and it continues to baffle people as to why considering their camera tech. We all keep hoping they'll fix it but they continue to believe their camera is the best... Strange.

Apparently the camera app is better in Android P.

Wanting a better camera is part of the reason I'm thinking of moving to another OEM. But who is the question. Not sure yet and no hurry either.

I'm still happy with the phone I have on the whole.

Sony avoids OIS in the same way Trump avoids being factual in the same way my current "supervisor" avoids doing her job.

They've been needing to simplify their camera app for years. We've seen that it can be done - Google had ****ty camera software and it was only starting from the Nexus 5 they took camera seriously and now their auto mode is very, very good. Samsung the same. HTC the same, even though no one gives a damn anymore. (one a side note, if I was a true big screen guy, I'd buy a U12+).

Sony's too busy being stubborn.

It's the same thing that pisses me off with LG: their camera app is good and their manual mode rocks. But they like to be too heavy handed with their post processing and make things look to much of an uber vain Asian woman in her 60s still trying to look 18.

Some of these folks who are too smart for themselves seem to enjoy making the same mistakes repeatedly.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

So the XZ2 got a test run this weekend and it kinda went about how I thought it would go.

I really wish the audio experience was better though. It's very good for no wires, but the wired experience is a bit of a disappoinment (this includes Andy's headphones). I think I may spend some money in an Apple store for the first time since I bought my work wife her iPad 3 years ago. I'll buy one of the new iPad dongles for testing as I don't like how the other one I have works with the XZ2. I don't hold out much hope...

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Just goes to show that the tech has reached a point of diminishing returns. It's now about gimmicks, not features. Can anyone really tell, with the naked eye, that the SD845 is appreciably faster than the SD820? Do we really need those nanoseconds in our lives to say the optic FPS in the OP6+ is slower than a conventional sensor?

I think someone at Apple probably said during a meeting - "Guys, we can't fool all these people forever. Eventually they're going to figure out our racket so we better release a cheaper phone with a couple of fewer features before they burn us at the stake".

I think that from a long term perspective, the worst thing that happened was Apple's super profits during the 3GS-5S days. People were so greedy to replicate those numbers (including the current Apple), that inspite of the increase in tech advancement, OEMs are now charging more in a saturated market. Lots of good flagship phones got killed due to poor sales, including the one I'm typing this on.

It's about after sales services now. I'm not looking forward to what's coming next hardware wise, until OEMs care to solve the battery run time issues.

Dang. I wish that it was better for you too. Good luck with the dongle testing. Let us know it goes.

It's the norm now. Very few consumers care about wired audio, so everyone is going wireless. I may try to see if I can go to an Apple store later to find out if they have it in stock.

Weather's crappy today. Perfect compliment to it being a Monday.

Best Buy has the Apple dongles as well.

Why do you think that is? I rarely wear headsets so I'm not as discriminating. I have an old-fashioned "hifi" at home which is where I prefer listening to my tunes.

Is it because handsets have become so large that people on the go can't have them on arm straps? I see joggers all the time down here with small devices (iPods I presume) strapped to their arms but I've never seen a large phone.
