WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I’m not into the streaming game either. I want to listen to what I want and when I want, not the same crappy music I hear on the radio every day. Listening to a “station” on iHeartRadio doesn’t work for me because I might be listening to a Euge Smoove track followed by John Bonham breaking my ribs with his double bass drums.

I too built my collection via Audio Galaxy and 3.5 kbps courtesy of Net Zero.
#AudioGalaxyalum.

Yup. Those were the days...audio Galaxy for the music and Kazaa for the movies. P2P at its finest.

Salute to the 90s internet classics:

1) Net Zero
2) Netscape Naviagtor
3) AIM
4) Yahoo Messenger
5) Bolt (social media)
6) A/S/L in the chatrooms
7) Myspace
8)Napster
9)Audio Galaxy
10) Dialup connection noise
11) Internet + phone using the same line, where you cannot be online and on a landline phone call simultaneously
12) Private chatrooms to talk sex
13) Penpal sites (where girls were sadly bombarded by dudes wanting a foreign girlfriend)
14) Kazaa

Yup, those were the days.

Still prefer the in hand feel of the Mix 2 over the XZ2. Both are quite balanced on their in hand feels. They just have different feels that's all.

You can find lots of diverse music on Spotify and there's tones of internet stations on TuneIn radio.

One station I listen to on TuneIn is Diva Radio. It's a funk and boogie station, no commercials, full of hits, underground and mixes. Another is 1.FM though I'm trying to find a better station for classic rock. (They have a bunch of stations) They do have the occasional commercial in weird places. (Though I'm not sure if it's 1.FM or not). My internet connection is not the greatest either.

Streaming is a lot better, in my opinion, than listening to radio stations. Whether it's internet radio or apps like Spotify.

On Spotify you can create your own playlists, download them for offline and find new music through searches and daily mixes.

I'm currently waiting to see what happens with Google's new YouTube music app. If it gets better I may move to that. Currently it's a bit of a dog's breakfast.

Also, I do have my own stash of music as well. It's on my NAS which I can stream from.

I may have mentioned this ages ago but I met my wife in a chat room on Yahoo Groups.

She was in Australia I was in Canada. We managed to make it work.

I used a lot of those services you mentioned, not all of them

Went to the flagship Apple store yesterday. I was reminded of how much less I like going in their stores. It's gotten too "corporate" in its feel.

I'll get the dongle on Friday.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I see my current super is trying the proven tactic of bullying people still left under her leadership as people flee left and right. Heard she was blocking someone who asked her for a reference too ( they shouldn't have asked her in the first place)

She better not try that **** with me. I'll light her *** up she'd wish I used actual kerosene and matches.

So I went into another Apple store (you know they've arrived to have a store on Madison Ave where all the high end clothing designers are) and picked one up. Really don't like the feel of their stores and all. It's too snobbish/elitist for my taste.

They treat you differently if you wear the notch haircut. Just for gits and shiggles you should wear corn rows or bust out da dreads.

They don't care...as long as your money is green, they smile and take it.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I did something dumb and it's not working right today so I wonder if this is a sign that I wasn't supposed to do that.

I might be returning the Xr soon, as I can't help but wonder if the size thing will bite me in the butt.

The dongle works fine. On the Sony though it triggers the Xperia transfer app every time it's plugged in. Sound is similar to the other dongle I have, the cable itself is smaller though.

Yup, Apple made a USB-C accessory that's pretty solid.

That's good that it worked out for you. That's so weird about what it triggers on the Sony though.

Not surprising for part of it though. When plugging in USB-C headphones, in some devices (Sony, LG) you get the notification stating power is being supplied to the device to make it work.

If we are talking sound quality, the Apple dongle doesn't impress me at all. But, it is shorter and this more convenient. IMG_20181107_214016.jpeg

Good luck with that.

Gotcha. That looks like it could be more convenient, just on length alone.

Though I don't wear headphones that often I do wonder about using the charging port as the headphones as well.

Currently on my XZ I have an issue where the USB plug doesn't stay in properly. It slips out in other words when moved. So totally useless for headphones. No idea how this has happened.

My wife's XZ1 compact sometimes doesn't acknowledge the USB cable to charge.

In truth I'm not overly impressed with UCB C if the charging ports are this fragile. Never had an issue with micro USB.

I do worry one day I won't be able to charge my phone. If that happens I'll never buy another Sony phone. Mobile phones are too much of a pain to fix and Sony phones are notorious for being difficult.
