Until there is value in the eyes of insurance companies and hospital execs, preventative care won't be as dynamic and healthy as it should be.
Cultural competence is even worse. Sometimes I want to club some of these doctors I cross paths with over the head half the time. The system is still too Western European slanted. For someone who has to build rapport and engagement with chronic ill people, it amazes me how medical professionals don't adjust their approaches as well as they should.Preventative care in most countries is pretty crap.
Most doctors don't receive much training in nutrition or exercise, for example.
Don't get me started on their lack of knowledge in evolution... Yes it's needed and should be fundamental.
There's a reason why there's an obesity and metal health crisis in most countries.
