WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Preventative care in most countries is pretty crap.

Most doctors don't receive much training in nutrition or exercise, for example.

Don't get me started on their lack of knowledge in evolution... Yes it's needed and should be fundamental.

There's a reason why there's an obesity and metal health crisis in most countries.
Cultural competence is even worse. Sometimes I want to club some of these doctors I cross paths with over the head half the time. The system is still too Western European slanted. For someone who has to build rapport and engagement with chronic ill people, it amazes me how medical professionals don't adjust their approaches as well as they should.

Until there is value in the eyes of insurance companies and hospital execs, preventative care won't be as dynamic and healthy as it should be.

Interesting that we've come to a point where a 2 year old phone won't get updated.

I see my phone won't get Android 9 whereas the one six months younger will.

Ah such is life.

When will this crazy updating cycle end? How much more power do these phones need?

The seller of the faulty X has accepted the return so I have sent it back to them.

I somehow forgot to update that I got the full refund back for that. Funnily enough, it seems like they have pulled their listings?

That's a good question. Getting updates for 2 years is a start though.

I just thought of something. What if the updates for 2 years is intentional (processor aside) so that we could get new phones every 2 years..? Continuous cycle that seems to work for Apple and even Google to a point.

If you search the internet as to what needs to be the basic things to check when one blacks out, the list is simple. Yet the PCP didn't do that in India for my mother and she ended up in the hospital for a few weeks and ultimately had a very long road to recovery. I was really mad at the doctor for not doing a simple blood pressure test.

This is why I like Huawei and Xiaomi approach. You can't tell a big difference in the software version easily with their skin. My Mate 10 Pro is running Android 8 while the MediaPad M3 is running Android 7 but it's difficult to parse out the differences.

So as long as we get security updates things should be fine.

Google is trying to "push for 24 months for updates" across the board. We'll see what happens.

So wasteful...

How much longer are we going to keep pushing the new and realise something is good enough?

All this technology garbage we're creating isn't good for our planet and the recycling is not perfect either.

Need longer life cycles for phones. There isn't much innovation now to justify the frequency.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I will have more in the news I mentioned next week. Things are taking longer than expected.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

In other news we dipped down to -4C last night. This unfortunately killed our basil in the polytunnel and damaged a few other things... You live and learn...

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Well, fudge.
Hope things get moving for your soon.
I should have mentioned it's more like four...

By mid next week I'll have a pretty good idea of things but when I know about each one I'll post about it.

So there may be some this week and some next week.

Careful, Tim Cook will come and slap the sense out of you as comments like this will give people ideas on disrupting the profits demanded by the shareholders.

Oh no, that sucks. I'm sorry.

Ah, your original comment is in reference to sustainability.

I think a cultural shift might help with that.
