WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Imagine my surprise when I saw the CDC ban romaine lettuce. Now, that's not a favorite of mine, but I was stunned. I instantly thought about of the people's livelihoods that were ruined and those who got sick from eating it. It's not an easy situation all around to be in.

That's really interesting that they did that but it is kind of a fail that this happened again with the same kind of lettuce. I agree with you on your points though.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I'm still fighting some of the changes that I need to make. I guess I'm just being stubborn right now and need to get on with it. I suppose it is indeed a bit more complicated than that.

One of the things that we often don't get told is how solitary certain parts of being an adult can be. I remember being a kid and wanting to rush to be once an adult to escape certain situations. Now as an adult I often will tell kids that whenever and wherever possible, enjoy your childhood as much as you can for as long as you can.

There have been quite a few fails like that recently. Nothing surprises me anymore as since 45's been in office there has been this erosion of "how certain basic things are expected to work". I'm not blaming him for this one, I'm simply saying that I don't think a lot of people are as confident in the basic institutions now as they were before.

As for the actual lettuce, it's just sad. This was one of the more popular forms of lettuce in use and all that produce has gone to waste.

True, it is sad. Also true about the fails. Sigh.

Google's keyboard is starting to annoy the hell out of me. I miss both the WP and Blackberry keyboards.
I've been using Gboard for at least 2 years now, and I haven't had any issues with it. I'm sorry your experience hasn't been as good as mine.

Happy Thanksgiving to the US folks. Happy Thursday to the rest of the world.

I have been using it for a long time too and slowly but surely it has been annoying me. I didn't want to do the extra stuff for adding BlackBerry manager, but I'm not a fan of Swift key either. So it is what it is. I've installed it on the Mi Pad 4 and so far, so good.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Still sorting out my phone situation. Feels like I'm having a serious flip-flopping moment. I think I'm just not fully satisfied with the options I have at hand and am not thrilled about the idea of going through the aggravation to sell items. Yeah, I'm doing a little unnecessary kvteching right now, so I'll fix it by day's end.

I feel this on a personal level. I can't say that I have "arrived" with the X but that it seems to be the best middle ground for me, even though I miss the low profile of the 7.

I wish you luck with your decision and with selling.

Healthcare really sucks, man. And to think there are countries where the costs are just as bad as they are here...

I was a former SwiftKey user, but that keyboard became laggy. Thankfully, I've not experienced any lag with Gboard so far.

Every country I've lived in has health care costs but nothing in comparison to the USA.

Finland, France and most EU countries have a social service which you pay into via your wage and that covers your health. They typically cover 75-80%. You can then get top up insurance to cover the rest if you want. So typical doctor visit is about €25 here in France.

In Australia it's about the same. It's covered by taxes and you pay about 80% of the cost.

Canada used to be 100% but they're brought in payments for some services. Each province handles things differently.

In the UK is 100% covered. However I don't see this staying like this for long.

The USA is one of the few countries left the doesn't have a universal health cover. It's also one of the most expensive.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I should point out that in those countries listed even those without a job are covered by universal health care.

I got a friend back home with Grave's disease and her medical costs are insane. If she were here, her treatment may be a bit better but the costs would be just as asinine.

It's all just a mess.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

This is by far one of the longer weeks I've had for some time.

Next week will be interesting.

That's unfortunate. The main issue with insurance in the USA there's always stipulations and an end to coverage at some point. That's my main issue with it.

I'm a firm believer in universal health care for all. I know there are those who think that's crazy but I believe it makes a society better, in general.

I don't understand arguments against it either. They're illogical.

I guess if you don't like your fellow human beings then I guess it's perceived as a 'burden'...
