Here in the Trump White House, common sense and proper spelling are optional.Yeah I saw that. No surprise there. No clue at all about climate change.
No surprise about the spelling mistakes either.
I wish I could post the reply he got from a comedian explaining it to him. It's funny but not suitable for here.
Same old ****, just a different day on this end.Today was stressful but for reasons other than work and weather.
Thankfully it got settled but now I need to go on a trip and miss a day of work.
I need to head back to my local department because I have to go to the capital about my residency. There was a misunderstanding with some paperwork so now I need to correct it. We have to go in person.Same old ****, just a different day on this end.
Bummer. I've avoided it so far. Apparently it's running rampant in France.Caught the flu.
Going to be out for a couple of days.

Ew, it looks like both of my classes will have group projects. I hope that I'm wrong but I'll find out a little later. I knew about one but not about the other.

It's a nice way to end your work day to come in to a blown transformer that leaves you without electricity. What a slog.

I hope the power is restored quickly.
Well, we will see what happens. My G7 is fully charged, so I'll swap to it in the morning if the current isn't back on by then.I second what Laura said. Not cool and it's also too cold for this.
Well, the lights are back on. Only took 6 hours from the time of the accident to now (2PM-8PM).Well, we will see what happens. My G7 is fully charged, so I'll swap to it in the morning if the current isn't back on by then.
My powerbank can charge a phone or two as needed.

I'm grateful. Now hopefully the apartment will warm up too. Slowly but surely.
Sadly this kind of thing happens in the UK as well. Not sure about France. France has very strict tenant laws. There are people in public housing without heat or hot water in this Polar vortex. While they could use the hot air from the dude at 1600 Penn Ave to stay warm, it just highlights the disparities that exist.
I have a client at work dealing with a bad case of mold - to the point where she and her adult children are sleeping in the living room in a 3 bedroom apartment because mold is in all 3 bedrooms. Because she is in public housing, it's been a fight to get her repairs. So she had a blow up this afternoon and chewed me out - due to her anxiety being through the roof (and understandably so, with all this stress). Didn't take it personal, but we had to talk about quite a few things. Of course there is a ton more to this story I'm leaving out.
The thing that annoyed me (and the client) was why a social worker working for her landlord told her to go to a warming shelter because she has low heat (pretty much no heat) in the apartment. All because the landlord cut a program where they used to supply tenants with emergency heaters.
So my resource challenged and health challenged client has to travel to a warming shelter where that travel stresses her health and resources, or just stay indoors with the bone chilling cold and mold in her apartment.
Some choice, eh?
While the warming shelter technically was an option, how it was presented who have gotten anyone hot under the collar.
She is just one of thousands of people living in ****ty conditions, scrapping to pay their rent on time and providing for their families. And for what? To be seen as a throwaway by power brokers and elitists. So when I hear the GF's mother's new husband (old baby boomer) talk some of the same junk Trump does (he does know Trump too), I just roll my eyes.
It's depressing as **** but fight on we must.
