WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Quietly grinding along with the 8. It's doing what it's intended to do. Funny enough, due to the damn cold, I've been using the MA-650 wireless with it just fine and I don't feel like the battery has been struggling.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

So I've read that parents that decided not to vaccinate their children in Washington state are freaking out wondering how to protect their kids from the measles outbreak.... If only there was a reliable scientifically proven method of preventing these horrible diseases, with the possibility of eradicating them entirely....

Oh wait!

Humanity depresses me sometimes....
Are you surprised?

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I need to find a new case for this Xr. The current version is just too bulky and heavy.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I think for me, the 8 has been really nice to use. Battery life has been really good for such a smaller cell. Standby has been amazing. 9.0 + Niagara launcher and a very lean set up is having this phase me run quite clean.

One of the best buys I've had in a while. Makes me almost want to get another one if my friend is able to take it home for my uncle.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Hardware wise, there are a some OEMs doing things I like...LG, Sony, Huawei and Samsung, Xiaomi. Software wise, Nokia and Google are doing things that appeal to me. It's why I end up with 2 devices - one with an OEM skin, one with AOSP/Pixel experience.

I'd love a V35 hardware with an AOSP skin that kept the sound mods and knock code and wide angle cam support.

One of the few times I guess Rue would cheer at something sporting related...

Yes and no.

I'm no fan of the football culture of the UK/Europe in general. The amount of money wasted on that sport is obscene. The sport like most sports are takers for 'entertainment' purposes and give little if anything back to the community.

The really sad part about this is that food bank use has increased significantly due to government policies. Lots of working poor in the UK with wage stagnation and cost of living increases.

It's these policies coupled with 40 years of negative media of the EU and government finger pointing that led to Brexit. The vast majority of the people who use food banks voted leave. They believe, wrongly,, that with the EU out of the way they'll get noticed by the government. Instead they're likely to suffer even more.

So yeah, good on them for the donations but it's only a small snapshot of a very big problem in the UK.

No.

This whole thing against vaccines is ridiculous. I'm not entirely sure where this idea of the 'pure child' came from but it's going to cause major issues.

Apparently there are teenagers trying to get vaccinated without parental consent. Says everything doesn't it?

Let me rephrase that.

This whole idea of the pure child stems from Jenny McCarthy and she was luckily enough thanks to Oprah to be given a large audience to espouse this total BS to. I'm no fan of the anti science Oprah and I hope she never runs for election any time soon.

Then you add in the years of 'chemicals' fears embedded into society and you have our current problems.

My wife's XZ1 compact just got 9. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet.

I'm hoping it fixed some of the bugs she has but I'm not holding my breath.

It's likely I need to reinstall the OS to fix them but it's likely she'll want a new phone instead.

Good to hear the 8 is doing well.

I know that feeling. I had a bulky case on my XZ for a while. Needless to say it made a bulky phone even more bulky.

So we found a cat sitter and we decided to make this a quick trip back. We're going on Sunday and returning on Monday. Monday is going to be a long day. Mondays are typically bad at the prefecture office. To make it more fun it's only open half day.

Jeez... It's February already. That's two months since me & my missus both decided to stop working and enjoy retirement for a bit... Hopefully the work on the farm will start moving along, but it'll have to wait a bit til after the Chinese Lunar new year... that's middle of next week.
Did some spring cleaning and tidying up the house. Darn, the dust that's get accumulated after the years... My sensitive nose is dead!!!

I was reading where the bureaucracy to apply for public assistance is just as punitive there as it is here. I'm sure like here as well, "immigrants on the dole" was used as the common scapegoat. While I'm sure that much of the users of the dole are the same folks here labeled as "the forgotten workers".

Ain't nothing new, ain't nothing changed.

My uncle would really like the 8. I'm thinking myself of a 8 Sirocco for the simple reason of it maybe getting updates a bit longer than the 8 as it's a half year newer. But even now it's unnecessarily expensive.

We'll have to see.

Yes that was a big talking point during the referendum. Immigrants on the dole, immigrants taking school placements, immigrants filling hospital and doctor offices. Immigrants filling up the island in general.

Then there's attitude that you're only British if you have generations behind you so even if you get citizenship you're not deserving of the befits of being British.

Of course, the truth is immigrants are a benefit to the economy because the vast majority work, pay taxes and spend their money in the UK. They're also young so typically not in hospital that frequently. They're more likely to be the nurse or doctor you see.

EU immigration has dropped already and a lot have left the UK. This is already causing problems for the UK.

But I guess you can only beat people up so much before they've had enough. Getting called 'que jumpers' by the PM probably didn't help.

Each day there's another company moving or laying off people. But yet they believe everything's is fine.

At this point if I were to get a new phone I might consider the XZ2/3 but I'm not sure. I'd even consider a Pixel 2/3 but I'm not fond of the price tags of them.

Ultimately, it depends on what I swap around to, personally. I liked the XZ2. If I was running the setup I have on the 8 now with that device, I'd be fine with it. The camera was strong and my only issue was the no headphone jack.

The audio was the sticking point. During very cold times like this, I use the wireless headset to avoid the clutter with all my layers. Overall though, because of the commute, I enjoy listening to my music and wired is still the best way to go. Sony isn't completely stock, but it's tolerable. Now that I don't use the skin everyday having retired my Z3 tablet, Sony can be more tolerable.

I'm likely to keep an LG device as well - either my G7+ or get a V35. Oddly, my preference is 1 LCD and 1 AMOLED device, 1 AOSP and 1 skinned software device, which is why I'm cycling through these combinations. I don't think I'm getting a 2019 device as frankly, nothing is coming for me that's worth the price tag or headaches.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

If I were running on fumes today, that would have been an improvement. It is such a slog. Stuff like this is how people get into a coffee habit.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Oh, my other class is a bit more technical than I thought. I have a group project but we have other assignments as well. We'll be using GitHub a bit, Anaconda (spelling?), an advanced text editor, etc.
This will be an interesting semester, I'm trying not to feel overwhelmed. I had a semester with a technical class and the other class was technical in theory but this is mostly application with some theory. The statement I said previously still stands....

I did wonder if I was on the right track, but my boss reminded me that these things do connect to the library because they handle the back end. Learning the back end makes it easier to enable users to find things better.
