You have great willpower. I'm working on being that way. I'm planning to buy a home after I graduate and it's just me so I'm trying to hold off on the random changes that don't need to be made.

It does not sound like willpower as much as maturing and reprioritizing.

I think 99 is also a good example here too. As much as I bust his chops about it, for a long time he had no loyalty to any device because he set his rotation up like a business. He was planning on trying stuff and having it pay for itself (for the most part). That does take a fair amount of work to do, but that too is a mature way to do it.

The tech game will always be expensive as OEMs are inittimake $$$ primarily. There are other things one can spend the $ on that may give a it more mileage, but that is relative to the individual.

I'll have to go take another look at both of the Sony phones again. Still not convinced myself.

Not sure what to do. I'll need to get a new phone soon(ish) as my battery just isn't holding up as it should. Looking around April/May maybe even June.

I kinda have an idea what I may end up doing. If I had done a better job of research I would have passed on the G7+, eat crow and got the Mate 10 Porsche instead...and just gotten a carrier branded G7 later for the audio.

But it happens to the best of us. I must say, waiting for you would likely allow you to get a XZ3 cheaper after they announce the XZ4 - if you got the Sony route, that is.

All I've got to say is that clapping by Pelosi has got to be the best thing that's happened since 45 took office. She said so much with a clap and a look.

She pretty much spoke for a lot of people without saying a word.

The Dems need to be careful, as the VA Governor and AG situation is showing...

I don't think anyone in politics in any party is immune to representatives doing stupid things.

The unfortunate party is that one group has a tendency to attack more than the other. Trying to score points. Usually the more conservative one. Their constituents tend to like this for some reason.

Politics shouldn't be about 'points'. It should be about governing. It's amazing how far away politics is from what it should be.

I'm not in any way endorsing what these people have done but I think the world has become overly judgemental and the idea that we all can grow, change and better ourselves has been lost somewhere. That's of course if they've done that... to be clear. It's not always easy to know.

No one is perfect and we all do dumb things that we regret later in life. That's part of growing as a human being. It's part of life.

I am far from being perfect and I know it. Lots of stupid things to regret if I think about them but I've done my best to learn and move on. That's all I can do.

What's the battery like?

I'm not the best person to go to for battery life, as I don't use things like screen on time.

Because my usage has changed so dramatically (I'm on my phone a lot less, stripped away lots of cruft apps), I can get away with charging it every other day. Which I think is very respectable, as I have the Bluetooth on for 12 hours for the smart watch and 3 of those 12 also have the wireless headphones connected too.

My Pixel 2 (9.0) and G7+ (8.0) gave me the same battery life (goes to show you how much I think LG didn't optimize the G7), which was worse than the 8 and XZ2 on 8.1. The 8 on 9.0 has been the best so far.

The thing is people are using the G Cam ports to get the most out of their cameras, once there is a port that is. The 8 is still liked enough where a port was done, so that helps.

I got mine for $200 - Brand new. That's perfect. I could stomach $250 brand new. Anything over that, I'd pass - which is why I waited so long. Keep in mind HMD had been good with patches, but because the 8 wasn't an Android One device, they were a bit slower with major OS updates. It was launched in summer 2017 so you may be close to EOL.

As an intermezzo at the right price, the 8 has good value for its age.

While you may not on an individual philosophical level agree with some of the things done by government, there was a certain respect for it. This was especially reserved for all high level public office (President, Governor, Mayor, Senator, Representatives, Council members, Judges, police, etc). It is why there are some people between the last two Presidents have said "I respect the office, but I dislike the person currently in there."

So when the human element creeps in, it is often that much more saddening to see falls of those people. Especially when related to sensitive issues like race. Can a racist white person be reformed? Yes. History has shown so far that more often than not, that same person is more likely to retain their perception than to modify it.

In the case of the VA Governor and AG, could they be in different, more positive places? Sure. Would I ask them to resign in light of these scandals? Yes, because their job requires them to build coalitions across a wide sect of their constituents, which they have lost the power to effectively do. Same for the Lt. Gov if the sexual assault stuff is true. Making mistakes and learning from them doesn't absolve facing consequences for actions, which is a big part of the learning process.

But that's just me. Until America has serious work put into addressing race and gender issues, that's my stance - get them out of office. No more distractions are needed to tackle the other parts of the people's work that needs to be done.

No plans to buy the 8.1 or the Sirocco. My wife likes the Sirocco but I don't think she'll get it. She likes a smaller phone but it's becoming harder to find.

It's why I've always said here that 'Murica is both the land of opportunity and contradictions. The world is changing, and the Western European descendants who got used to things been done a certain way for hundreds of years are failing to adapt, digging in their heels even.

Yup, I'm not looking forward to these next few years.
