The 8's jack is a real weakness. It just cannot drive the headphones I have how I want it to. I kinda wish it didn't have one, but otherwise it is serviceable.
Bummer! That would rule out the 8 for me, since I listen to a lot of music.

She's already having a grand time. Me - indifference is still there.
We had a fish tank when I was growing up. The simple truth is unless you're really into it you become indifferent.

We had it for years. Hated cleaning the thing. The dead fish, etc.

When the last fish died we got rid of the tank, finally.

I can honestly say that I'm not a fish tank kind of person.

Though they're more responsibility I prefer cats.

I'm also not a bird cage person either. I think the idea of denying birds who can fly of freedom is cruel.

I'm not a fish person either. Cats are cool, but I'm highly allergic to most. I like dogs, and I'm not allergic to them, but I can't have a dog in my apartment. Cats are allowed, but my allergies are the problem.

Fish are ornamental to me. Things to look at. I guess some can have personalities.

There are low allergy cats. (I know sounds funny). The breed we have is Russian Blue which is hypoallergenic and apparently produce less of the proteins that make people allergic.

There are other breeds as well but Russian Blues are a people cat and like the company of people. They're also very loyal and smart.

They only way to know for sure would be to spend some time with one. Most people are allergic to the dandruff. Keeping a cat brushed helps with that. Also keeps the fur under control. But they're not that bad with that anyway.

If you ever decide to investigate look into adopting an ex breeder. You can normally get them cheap and still fairly young (2-4yo). Make sure it's pure bred to ensure it has all the qualities. They normally have papers showing bloodlines etc. The breeder should have them neutured for you as well.

I'd recommend adopting a cat in general but you need specific breeds and probably won't find them at a typical adoption place.

There's always ways to have a pet. They're great for stress relief and general well-being.

I'm personally not a dog person myself but I can appreciate why people like them.

I'm also of the opinion that the pet industry needs regulation and they need to stop breeding pets so much and people should require licences to own. Just my opinion.

I do believe it regarding hypoallergenic cats. A friend of mine had a cat with long hair that did not bother my allergies at all. I have no idea what kind of cat he was, since she adopted him from a shelter. However, he was very affectionate and playful. It was cool that I could spend an entire day with him and not sneeze once, yet other cats made it impossible for me to breathe, and I actually was forced to leave their owners' houses or avoid going to their owners' houses.

There's several cat breeds that are hypoallergenic. Some better than others. Kind of depends on your allergic response.

Obviously some interbreeding can produce cats that are more hypoallergenic than others.

If she had a pure breed it's possible it was a Siberian. Either that or a Siberian cross. They're long hair cats.

The Russian Blue has a special double coat designed for winter which helps reduce allergens in the air and they produce less of the protein that most people are allergic to. The Russian Blue is short hair.

So it sounds like you could investigate getting a cat if you wanted one. Some shelters are better than others and I think most try to do a good job.

My wife and I believe in getting ex breeders because some breeders think they're useless once they're finished producing kittens and sometimes put them down. Thankfully the two breeders we've dealt with so far haven't been like that, we think. Still not sure about the one from the UK.

There may also be hypoallergenic dogs. The GF has bad allergies to cats and dogs. But, her mother's husband has dogs that jump on her all the time that don't trigger her allergies. Because of that, she was interested in getting a dog but settled on fish due to the size of the apartment.

You know what industry is looking forward to the current generation becoming seniors? DME companies that specialize in hearing aids. Hearing health has seriously gone down the toilet.

It's one of the reasons why I like wired vs wireless audio, as I don't feel I have to crank the volume up higher than safe levels in order to enjoy enough parts of the music I like during my commute on a wired headset (using an LG powered device) For example, I'm listening to my music on the train right now and I can hear a Cardi B song (enough of it to tell it's Cardi B) from the woman sitting next to me. While she is using a wired headset into a tablet, the point is the same - a lot t of people are damaging their ears and the hearing aid companies will really start hearing cash registers ring as these folks get older.

Poodles are one of the best for allergies. Their fur is more like hair. Not sure if dogs have the same issue of proteins like cats.

Sometimes I'm startled by how loud some people's music is. I know some headphones leak quite a bit as well.

They've done some tests on younger drivers who have high powered stereos in their cars and a lot of them are suffering hearing damage already.

I have a hearing issue but mine is a bit different and not sure if an aid will fix it. I have issues with hearing when there's other noise, especially in loud(ish) restaurants or other areas. Not necessarily music related.

My problem is that the noise drowns out certain frequencies for me and I have trouble hearing people even if they're right next to me. It's like my hearing becomes overwhelmed by the sounds.

If I take a hearing test I'll do pretty well for my age. I'd have to see a specialist to sort out something but just haven't got around to it. I'd like to though, along with some other things.

Sigh. Getting old sucks btw.

It's the leakage of the headphones that has always been a pain for me. I don't need my music so loud to drown out both the world around me and the feelings I may be feeling in that moment.

I think that in terms of Android, Google's version has been tweaked better for Bluetooth thanks to Sony's codecs. Everyone hear is tired of hearing me talk about USB-C audio, so that's that. Even on the Pixel 2, which volume was terribly low for both wired and wireless, with the MA-650 wireless, it sounded louder and cleaner. This has been confirmed by the pedestrian DAC in the 8.

No one cares about good audio anymore, just good enough for those who choose to use it.

Test driving a new-to-me rig - Huawei P20. Initial impressions were that it would be a short-lived experiment until the EMUI 9 update came in. Emotion is such a blatant ripoff of iOS right down to the locked down nature of the UI. Simple things like notification sounds for different apps were beyond pulling hair, and I'm not too well endowed in this area. I've resisted downloading redundant apps to give the baked in solutions a chance and so far, it's working. I'm still forced to use multiple email apps because I refuse to do the unified inbox thing. I'm using Gmail for, duh, Gmail. Huawei's email client is good enough for my work Exchange account and I'm using Nine for my Windows personal account. All other PIM is being served by Huawei's offerings and it's not bad, I could get used to this.

Hardware wise, this is one tight piece of kit. The FPS is lightning quick and is every bit as good as a Sony. The power button is one of my favorite points as it's got a very nice profile and stupid easy to find. The camera app is not the best but the imaging is top-notch. I had a Mate 9 a year or so ago and it infuriated me to no end because of the EMUI of the time. Launchers didn't play very well with it so I moved on from it even though it was probably the best non-PureView camera I had experienced before.

The main reason I chose this one over the P20 Pro was for the front FPS. I was impressed with the Kirin CPU from the Mate 9 so I wasn't afraid of the unknown and this 970 doesn't disappoint. I also wanted to try Huawei's take on a Continuum experience. It's a cinch to set up and it works wirelessly too. However, when running on wireless you can't use a KB and mouse via USB-OTG which I find peculiar. As for the desktop experience itself, it's not Continuum. It looks more polished, but only the native Huawei apps run in PC mode. It does do a fantastic job of scaling run of the mill Android apps so it doesn't look like a mirrored display. Having tried all 3 current systems I can say, IMHO, that Continuum still offers the best desktop experience with Samsung's DeX a distant third. It barely deserves a participation trophy to be honest.

Oh, before I forget. Did I mention this thing is a monster of a voice phone? Nothing I've used recently latches on to a T-Mobile signal like this phone. It's literally what's making me make a concerted effort to like EMUI. I should have known better. Since MIA's buddy Mr. 45 says Huaweis are notorious spy phones it stands to reason they are excellent communications devices.

Had to sneak a comment in there about your tio DJT eh?

Huawei does make some nice hardware. That is clear. Being #2 OEM (by volume) without much US presence is impressive. That is clear too. Also, they are one of the infrastructure supplies so there isn't much surprise about their ability to hold onto a signal.

Glad you like your experience so far. I'd love to own a Mate 10 Porsche or a Mate RSas a diky driver. They're just too exclusively priced for what they offer.

Cops doing a sweep in the area, walking up and down the street. Hard to fall asleep with that activity when you're sleeping in the room by the street.
