WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Ugh, this is true. Honestly, this is also another layer of why the feelings I have for a friend who we both share a friend group and are connected is hard. While this might bring disagreement (I dunno, I'm just guessing it might), it is easier to date others from outside of the social group(s). Not just because of possible awkwardness for a short time but because stuff like this is super personal. Also being connected to the faith I am and desiring that for the other person as well, makes it even more necessary to share.

I have said that I have always felt different...even saying that is the story of my life and it is. We all have layers, but I seem to be the only person with more than one of my layers at a time and I'm tired.
Figuring out how one deals with feeling and being different can be challenging. For those who get to that level of acceptance, it takes varying degrees of time (some times quickly, sometimes it's an ongoing thing over the journey through the life course).

Some people don't. One first has to decide if they want to take this on. Only you what the answers are - and if you don't, you've got to decide if it's worth trying to find them out.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Some of us aren't destined to stay in one job for 25+ years. Some us move around periodically. The goal though is each opportunity builds on the other and gets us closer to where we would like to be. Nothing is more challenging that making a ton of lateral moves that don't lead to any progress.

Mhmm, you're right. Yeah that's what one of the leaders I met at the conference said. He stayed academic but mentioned that each place brought something to him even if it seemed like he was moving laterally.

I'll have to figure out how that looks like for me, considering that I know some of what I don't want.

Dating in a social group can be great. It can be messy.

A certain level of maturity on the other side to handle either outcome is helpful. If that's not there, see above.

It just all depends on what's the situation.

True, you're right on all counts here. Part of this is why I'm doing therapy. I used to wear my differences, thinking that I'll take whoever will accept me as a teen and even younger adult, versus whoever I clicked with and felt fine with. I can't say that I'm above that as a part of that is still in me but it's being worked on.

Yeah, you're right about that. I'll say that I thought about how that could look like, but I am debating if it's worth it altogether. He did see someone recently, as a kinda date situation and I don't feel comfortable asking how that went even though I was there when he said that so eh. I'm just watching how things go.

I'm glad you know some of what you dont want. Figuring out what you do want is just as important.

Well, I respect that you have decided to look into it. I hope that you find what you need for as long as feel it is necessary to look into it.

I will take your word for it. You're right, it does depend. I have never seen him with anyone and before the ex, he didn't see or hear me with anyone so I can't guess how this would be. All of the friends dated outside people, introduced them and ended up sticking with them. I would like to talk to a certain friend about this. In her case, they met in college and kinda went from friend to more, but I don't know how that worked for the group.

Thank you. I didn't realize that this was as big of a thing until I started going and she opened that window. It's kinda fascinating but also scary and also like dang! Feeling kinda read...

Never underestimate how much work that may need to be put into an area of your walk through the life course. Go at the pace that you feel is best.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Damir just killed off the English videos for his channel and has gone exclusively German, which sucks.

I realize I just don't have the time to watch as much creator content as I used to. I still stay subbed but am picky as to watch I see. Pocket now has become a bore for me without Juan. John Rettinger has become a bit of a bore. Flossy is still funny. J. Williams, Eazy Computer Solutions, Mr. Mobile, Tech Tablets, C4ETech and Geeky Ranjit are nice change of pace, but I don't follow them as much.

Honestly, I'm at a point where I know what I like and what I want. Very few influence me to get a product, and in order to do so, I prefer the Damir style. Most people like that Unboxed Therapy /MKBHD type overview flavors.
I sub to his channel cos I like his long chatty style when he reviewed the nokia7plus, and also the poco phone. Such a shame about his dropping the English vids, but I can sympathise with him.
Hardly watch tech reviews on youtube now that I bought my phone and have no intention or any major upgrading my laptop and/or gadgets.

What my fave stuff on YouTube now? Ambient stuff, esp hours of heavy thunderstorms. It's very soothing. Haha. OK, once a while I switch to extended soundtrack of Bladerunner. I'm like a bit of vangelis once a whiile

Another day at the farm. I declare that with a machete in my hands, I can inflict serious damage to weeds and thick underbrush.

Here 's some pineapples that were harvested today...

I watch just to see people fawn over the new stuff. Otherwise, nothing really moves me that much on YouTube. Damir unfortunately was just doing too much work and not getting enough back in return.

Too many tech enthusiasts like to sub to too many people and play the "I disagree because X YouTube person said so and so" in the comments on videos. It's still a subjective thing, buying tech based on one's preferences. While some things I do with my devices overlap with folks here, my specific use pattern is unique to me. So always take with a grain of salt.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

So my upgrades are coming into focus. While there are items the itch would like to try, the combo of the V35 and Mate 20 Pro are going to do the bulk of the heavy lifting for this year.

If anything gets upgraded it would be likely on the LG end. There's a part of me that if I didn't want to be so compact, it would have been a V40. Mate 20 Pro will remain firmly placed in the collection - even though I'd still rather it had been a Porsche device.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I find it interesting that the t-mobile variant of the S10 5G may not be fully compatible with the next level of their 5G network. And yet they still plan to sell it for over $1000.

Let that sink it.

The addition of the X12 pros have made the Mate more daily driver material for me, honestly. Not sure if I'll go that direction though.

Today is Pride in NYC. Being the 50th anniversary of Stonewall Inn ritos, it's a yuge deal. If I weren't so exhausted, it would be a great day to take the Mate out and shoot some serious stills. Weather is holding up very nicely too.

Folks are out in full force in Union Square. I have mixed feelings - it's nice to see so many people out, but dig a bit deeper and you see some of practical issues faced by folks under the banner, especially transgendered people.

There is always more work to be done.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

So we're going to the Jersey Shore next week to get away for a few days. Nope, it won't be Seaside Heights, which got infamous for being the temporary home of Snooki and friends. Since the Jersey Shore is yuge, it's one of the smaller towns (Bellmar) that has a nice boardwalk and a few things to do. I'd like to go parasailing but I'm still on the fence. Not about the activity itself, but between shark sights off the shore and some random article of necrotizing fasciitis that's given me pause. We will see what happens.

We went the Rue route and are stay at a quaint B&B. If it were up to me, I'd have gone to A.C. to be cheaper since this is so last minute, but we do that all the time. Need to plan a full vacation - maybe next summer.

One of the things the gf will get to see is the train ride. We're going via good old NJ transit (shout out to the regulars who know my history with it). The coastal line has some great views in the summer and autumn, so I think she'll like that.

I'd like to have a 5G unit as a daily driver, but I think that the current offerings leave a lot to be desired. I think the v50 unlocked will be super pricey, assuming it will be able to work on all unlocked networks. It's kinda what I wanted, but I may end up skipping it due to my current software support issues with LG.

A sneaky of erring would have been a moto modded phone, but their support is worse than LG's. It feels like they do Android feature phone style now. Back in the days featured phones barely got updates, so what you saw what was you got and OEMs did their best to prep the phone and did minimal after sale software support. It feels that's where moto is now.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

It has always been interesting riding the subways for all these years. The changes in hues of folks depending on what section of the train one gets on and off at is very, very interesting. Maybe I'll turn it into a post.
