This is hardly surprising. I do use Google Assistant on my phone occasionally at home but in general I try not to. I have no desire to get anything by Amazon and I don't use either Cortana or Siri.
I have noticed a couple of times on my wife's phone that Google Assistant will pop up if it thinks it heard something. It's a bit weird. Hasn't happened in a while so maybe they fixed that but still.
You sort of feel like you're being spied on all the time...

I once sent an Amazon link for tea balls that I purchased to a friend. My friend got suggestions of specific tea balls on Amazon via email for about 2 weeks afterward.

We've noticed it doesn't take much to get 'suggestions' these days. There are times when we haven't searched for anything but talked about it and then my wife gets advertising about it.

So this Friday we're off to Sicily! Looking forward to it.
As it's a combined wife's birthday and anniversary thing not sure how often I'll post. We're also travelling around the island so on the move a lot and I'm not sure about connectivity.

Don't worry about posting here during your holiday. Just enjoy Sicily and being with your wife.

That' funny! But sad that happens.
These companies are so desperate to sell stuff. I keep having to unsubscribe from stuff because as soon as you sign up anywhere you end up getting tonnes of emails for crap even when you didn't want them.
I also got a tonne of mail 'snail mail' when I signed up for my internet or electricity. Not sure which one.

Overall I'm quite satisfied with the Nokia 8.1.. Gcam greatly improves the camera experience, and I tend to stick to stock camera for food picts, it just looks natural. Gcam's extended dynamic range overkills it.Wow! Those are awesome photos.

So my wife and I started investigating an update for our DSLR this weekend. We were considering getting a new camera to take with us to Sicily.
After doing some online research we came to the conclusion that currently the DSLR market is a complete mess.
It's practically impossible to make an informed decision and that there's loads of older models kicking around (nothing wrong with that but adds to the confusion).
So we just gave up. It appears there's some transition period happening currently with the shift to mirrorless cameras.
Along with that we need to update our terminology with what's what. It's been a while since we looked into things.
So as long as we want a newer camera it just seems pointless to buy one at the moment.

Spare battery for the S3 classic is here, along with the bootleg tools. I ordered a pair of y 0.6 screwdrivers to show up next week. If I can get the gear sport open and the battery swapped, it'll be an interesting decision.
