WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I have big mits like yourself.

This is my first large phone and I thought I was going to find it weird but I didn't.

There is a one handed mode. I use Gboard which had swipe keyboard but I think most do on Android.

Overall I like the experience and the tall aspect doesn't bother me.

However, my wife has decided she's not that keen...
I have no idea if the Samsung keyboard has swiping features or not. I'm so accustomed to Gboard that I didn't bother investigating.

Congrats! Though I'm not a huge fan of Samsung I do like their new phones and I hope it works for you.
This is my first Samsung phone.

I've never been a fangirl of any specific OEM. I chose Samsung, rather than LG, since Samsung is better than LG in terms of updates recently.

Thanks! I hope it works well for me also.

So update on the phone situation for my wife.

She's not fond of the tall skinny look of the Sony Xperia 5 and she's over having the camera in the corner as like me she has a tendency to grab the phone from there. These two things kill the idea of the Xperia 5.

So she's decided to get a Nokia 9 Pureview. With full understanding of its short comings.

If the Nokia becomes too painful we'll sell it and she'll likely get a Xperia 1 in purple if the new Nokia Pureview isn't out yet.

So that's where things are currently.
Cool! I hope she likes her new Nokia. I would've considered both it or your Sony, if either were available for Verizon. Unfortunately, I can't change carrier, since only Verizon has coverage where I live.

Please keep us updated re your wife's Nokia. I really do hope it works well for her.

Congrats on the new phone for her! I hope that the Nokia 9 will work out well, if not well enough.

Samsung keyboard has swiping features. I used my S10+ stock and was quite happy with it. The only thing that I didn't use was Bixby.

Well, I got a new toy, one which none of you would expect. It's a blue Samsung Galaxy S10+.

The microphone on my LG V20 bit the dust, so nobody could hear me unless I used Bluetooth. I could've gotten a V50, but it was just as expensive as the S10+, so I opted for the Samsung, which is my first Samsung device. A Spigen clear case and a screen protector are arriving from Amazon tomorrow.

I have everything set up on the Sammy and removed my account from the LG and did FDR (in the proper order).

Now I just need to play with the camera. I'll do a mini review once I've used the S10+ more.

Wow congrats!! You're right, that came from left field for sure.

Update on S10+

I decided to try out One UI, rather than use Nova Launcher Prime, which I've been using on all my Android devices for over four years. Granted, I'm using Gboard,Textra and Aqua Mail Pro, rather than the stock Samsung apps for keyboard, texting and email. However, I wanted to see how I liked One UI, since I despised TouchWiz when I played with Samsung devices in the past.

Surprisingly, I don't hate One UI and will probably keep using it. It isn't cluttered and laggy as TouchWiz used to be.

Another thing I did was install PowerAmp Pro, which I purchased when I used my OG Moto X, and it works great on the S10+. The S10+ has Dolby Atmos, so the sound isn't shabby at all. That was one of my concerns about switching from LG, but it's not noticeable to me with the same headphones.

Further updates on the S10+ to follow.

Nice! I'll be looking forward to reading them.

So at this moment we haven't ordered the new phone. Been a bit too occupied with other things.

I'll let you know when it happens.

During this time I've viewed a lot of video reviews of phones. Something I usually don't do.

I have to say I'm not a huge fan of reviewers overall (though some are OK) and some are, to put it bluntly, just useless. I know this is nothing new and this has been said for some time. Especially about those with bias.

One thing I'm still trying to get my head around is who decided what the 'perfect' picture is? There seems to be this ideal picture that if a phone doesn't have it you shouldn't buy it. Forget understanding how to take a picture, lighting and (OMG!) editing a photo. It's crazy we're here. I know the general idea of a camera phone is 'point and shoot' but you should still have some idea of taking a picture... and some of these reviewers are really clueless.

There's a few other things I could say but overall but I have no desire to watch any more video reviews.

Lastly for me. I know I mentioned my car recently. Well I thought I was going to make some savings and unfortunately I'm not. Such is life I guess.

It's been a real struggle and mess.

... and if it doesn't handle PUGB, it's useless.
