Also learned that Kylie Jenner is apparently not a billionaire so Forbes retracted that statement. Bye Forbes.

I don't care for her, but I do care for the false story and news.

. When Forbes has to retract statements on how much your *** is worth.

Haven't changed those for your Presidential second cousin, thrice removed, but that's something else...

There's a wiki on it.

But to save time...

A0 is the largest size. It's equal to 1m square.

Subsequent sizes are half the previous size.

So A1 is half A0, A2 is half A1, etc.

These are metric ISO standard sizes only North America and some Latin America countries use those imperial sizes.

Side note, A5 is a popular size for paperback books.

Sizes are typically in millimetres.
Thanks for the explanation! That does make sense and now that you've explained what A0 is, I have a visual idea of what all the other sizes are.

And as you found out A4 is the closest to letter size.

Personally I prefer the metic sizes. I have no idea why Canada doesn't use them as it's a metic country.

Though it's still sort of transitioning.

So today, for my birthday.

We went to, Chateau de Chantilly.

If you're thinking Chantilly cream, you would be correct. This is where it's from.

Just a couple of shots.

Had a burger for lunch picnic style before going in.DSC_0611-01.jpgDSC_0614-01.jpgDSC_0663-01.jpgDSC_0626-01.jpg

A5 turned out to be the size I wanted for writing with a fountain pen taking notes and journalling.

I agree with you regarding use of metric sizing. Had the papers been listed in cm I would not had any confusion with the sizes.

I believe that's known as cognitive dissonance. When people hold contradictory beliefs.

In the instances that you talk about is very is to do and very common, unfortunately.

Though this is more about race (I really hate the word race while taking about this but I understand why it's used) I'll give another example.

Women's rights.

It's well known that those who protest abortion clinics have used the services themselves or their children have. Then happily go back to protesting in front of the same clinic they just used.

That is the very essence of privilege thinking.

It's mind-blowing but not surprising.

USA is a weird messy place.
Didn't want to get too technical so I had to spell it out like that.

If you go to the wiki on this there's a formula on how the sizes are calculated.

Also if you type in search 'metic paper sizes' you'll find guides on the names and sizes.

What I love about the metric system is that it's logical. It's decimal. It just makes sense.

I was never happy using the imperial system. In the UK where they have a real mix of the two (and some other weird stuff) it's very confusing.

I guess it'll take another 100 or so years before metic gets adopted everywhere. That's of course if humans are still around.

I don't use "race" - were all human race, even though some of us have philosophically will try to disagree. I prefer the term ethnicity as it for me better highlights the diversity that exists among humans. What we know as Hispanic, Caucasian, Asian Pacific Islander, African American, African, etc have more to do with the social ( humans made up) vs true science.
Just for some silly information.

The term race is not used in biology anymore. It's an old fashioned term. Anthropologists and sociologists tend to still use it as as means of cultural and social identification.

In biology, when you have differences within a species with a common ancestor it's known as a clade. Cladist doesn't have the same ring to it I guess.

We are one 'race' though maybe if we started using species it might begin to mean something more.

In biology the term divergence is used to classify when a species splits and can no longer breed between each other. With larger forms of life that's usually millions of years before that happens.

That's why we all have Neanderthal and Denisovan as part of our DNA. Probably a whole bunch of others as well.
