WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Today is a low impact day. Gonna do that beer pork butt and let it cook for a few hours. Need to reduce that sauce correctly this time.

I used a Heineken the last time and I'm tempted to use a Guinness instead. Gonna throw some baby carrots, thyme and shallots in it.
Mostly likely will go with a coconut rice here. I'm thinking first preference as arugula for the salad, but I may go milder here as I'll go heavy on the spices for the pork butt.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

So the music stopped again on the XZ2 Compact today (I have done the known fixes). I'm going to take a break from it for a day or two, to see if anything is announced at the keynote tomorrow (I don't have high confidence in this).

This is an issue for me because it's dangerous to try to control music while driving because it randomly stopped. My car doesn't have Android Auto or Bluetooth natively so this means that if it stops randomly, I have to pick up my phone to start the song up again.*
I will sleep on what I should do next, but for the moment, I'll be switching back to the 7 to get all of the carrier benefits back.

* = I don't believe this is a signal thing. I have tried several other phones as you all know and this never happened before.

The first time I ever experienced anything similar was on a Blackberry Passport a few years ago. After some deductive reasoning it turned out to be a glitch with the SD card. I read on some forums later on that others were having similar issues and the SD card was also found to be the culprit. Long story short, I make sure I buy a phone with sufficient internal storage and have never had a problem since.

I don't blame you in that lesson. It's funny that you say this because that's what they were saying on the Sony forums too as a fix. I'm with you, I don't even use SD cards really. One lives in my Galaxy A3 permanently because 16gb of storage is tight with Android especially with Samsung's software.

I know that 16gb is tight for basically everyone that posts here but it was fine with me on my SE for 2 years because iOS and I stream/cloud everything. I never felt the stuff that I battle with on my A3, but to be fair, the A3 has 1.5 gb ram and the SE has 2 gb ram so maybe that's not fair.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

So an interesting thing came up when I went to have lunch with friends today. I was wondering out loud if one of our friends was going to join us. One of my friends said to call him to see and I mentioned that I don't have his number. She (the friend that said to call him) was surprised. I said that I think it's a little weird to suddenly ask someone you have known for 3 years for their number. One of the other friends was like "Nah, not really". I followed up my statement saying that girl to girl is totally different versus girl to guy. We were moved to the table by then so that was the end.

I'm just curious what you all think about that point if you think that is weird or not.

When I say known, I mean like we literally have hung out together in a group (both big and small groups) before over these years.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Thanks Laura!
It was a fun day.
We didn't get a chance to do a couple of things, so we're going to go back again. Hopefully more good pictures from that visit.

Also we want to go to the Getty Villa and that's right by the ocean in Malibu so that should be interesting as well.
Have fun on your next visit. ☺️

Have you tried using Sony software to do a complete reinstall of the software? Didn't always work as there could be glitches in general.

I've been thinking of doing mine as it sometimes acts weird and my wife's phone definitely needs it done.

I think she wants a new phone as she's not 100% happy with the XZ1. I'll wait for the bugs to be sorted before suggesting the XZ2. I think she will like it better because if the bigger screen size.

She likes the smaller phones. She'd prefer a large phone but has no way to carry it around. She doesn't carry a bag.

Ah tech, such a pain still.

I'll try it thank you (when I get home and see what happens with this keynote). Otherwise, the XZ2 Compact is good. The battery life took a nosedive in comparison but it isn't terrible. She would love to have a bigger screen in the same size, which is so nice to have.
The music thing is a pain in the butt. The stereo speakers aren't really loud though but they are nice to have. The phone is also heavier over the XZ1C. It's heavier in this time of thin, light phones. It feels better to hold imo.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

So I saw something quite interesting at the Getty Center on Saturday. On my last trip we had a couple that had two Lumia devices. That was 4 years ago. On this trip we were under a tree grove listening to a folk tale recitation and I spotted two elderly guys taking pictures of the event. One had a white OG Pixel XL and the other one was still using a Nexus 5!

Quite interesting to see that considering that demographic usually as an ifruit of some sort.

Ooh that is really cool! I haven't seen a Nexus 5 in a long time.

This is really interesting. Simon Cowell said that he hasn't used a smartphone in 10 months and it has made him happier, even though it also feels strange.

I guess it depends on how you use a smartphone. If social media is your highest priority then I can see the separation anxiety. If my job only depended on email and some cloud storage I'd never ditch Windows. Oonfortunately, there are a few apps that I can't do without so I'm stuck with my iPhone. It's not horrible but I would be happy with a flip phone and a connected tablet.

Yep, you are right about how it is used. I can get you on that point about the connected tablet.

I wrestle with getting a Kindle or something like it that somehow allows me to read Kindle books and pdf books.

Edit: While looking for tablets, there's so many formats for books. Ugh. Maybe I should consider a iPad after all.

The Nexus 5 is one of the few phones in 99's HoF. I say it's my second favorite twin (Nexus 5/G2) after the HTC Desire/Nexus One.
