So the after the joke that was the SD810 on the M9...
HTC: "hey, the 10 has it all!"
Market: "too expensive, not glass, not water resistant."
HTC: "here's the U11! New design!"
Market: "not bezeless, no headphone jack, still too expensive (compared to OnePlus)."
HTC: "Here's the U11+!"
Market: "too expensive, not released everywhere."
HTC: "here's the U12+!"
Market: "too expensive, buttons suck."

Samsung started out copying Apple. I mean they've lost that battle in the courts. But lately they've found their groove and are trying to be as different from Apple as possible. Yes they're expensive too but their BOGO deals make things easier compared to HTC and Sony.I'm curious as to who in the Android space that's had success (especially in the US) without copying Apple...
Watched an interesting video today that has me thinking about things. I'm a little younger than some of the other regulars here so what I'm about to say may or may not be lost on you.
With the world of social media, it's so easy to cancel people for words they say or do. These can be people that you know, and/or people with some form of celebrity and even companies. Of course everyone has their own personal limits on what things. There's several examples I can list, but I'm not sure I'll want to start something here.
Anyway, the point was that people don't always know, but when they know later on, they do better. Most people have probably had a moment that they have said something out of ignorance themselves so we shouldn't be so quick to say that this person is a bad person and should be ignored from then on.
I have said some dumb things myself in the past and cancelled someone instantly (in my mind) for saying that fat people smell and instantly made a face of disgust after saying that years ago. Watching that video does make me wonder if they learned from that and if anything else they had to say after that was worth dismissing because of that one statement.
The only person who had initial success without copying Apple - HTC. I was around in those days where you'd see HTCs all over as you do with Samsung's now.Samsung started out copying Apple. The thematic issues are generally the same, packaging changes across generations.Watched an interesting video today that has me thinking about things. I'm a little younger than some of the other regulars here so what I'm about to say may or may not be lost on you.

People have always dismissed people instantly for all sorts of semi-questionable reasons. People have always made all sorts of assinine comments - that's human nature.
Perhaps it's more about understanding and staying in tune with one's own biases.
It's the core values that matter. I'm in my mid 50s and I say stupid s**t on a daily basis. Most of the time it's borne of ignorance but in the case of the current Commander-In-Chief, it's borne of hatred and contempt. That's his core and that leopard ain't changing his spots anytime soon. I would never body shame a girl and may the Good Lord strike me down instantly if I ever say anything derogatory toward disabled people as I have an autistic daughter myself. That's my core, the stupid stuff is easily correctable by a swift kick in the shins from my wife.
This is so true. I think you're looking at it in a good way, even though the comment about your wife made me laugh.
If I can ask, how did you identify your core values? It sounds like you and your wife share the same ones, which is awesome. I wrestle with what is something that is nice to have and something that is a no way - this is not going to work out, when it comes to dating. I don't mean physical stuff, I mean for things that could be values. I have been thinking about this lately and I do have given things for sure, like not being racist but then that leaves so many things and I'm not sure if I could be with someone who doesn't see someone as a human being because of whatever reason.
Edit: I realized that I asked a deep question but you don't have to go deep if you don't want to.
Nothing deep about nothing if it helps another person. My wife rescued me from a bottle of booze 24 years ago and for that I'm indebted to her for life. That was my first epiphany. The fact that someone out there cared enough about me and saw some potential somewhere, I'm not sure where. My second epiphany was accepting that the Good Lord blessed me with a child with special needs that was going to have to depend on mommy and daddy for the rest of her life. Seeing life through her prism really put things in perspective for me (and my wife). I don't know what God's ultimate plan for me is but I know that either my daughter or myself have something to offer this world. Since I don't know what that is, I try to help people out as much as I can with whatever skills or abilities I have. That keeps me grounded but make no mistake, I raised a fair amount of hell in my youth and I'm not exonerated for it yet.
Wow! You are certainly busy. Safe travels.Quick update. See you all late July.

So this is what draining the swamp is supposed to look like, right????So who got distracted by the 'jacket' and missed the billions in cuts in the 2019 budget? Who needs medical aid right? Got to make sure those billionaires make more money....
You have such a lovely government there. Distract, lie, cheat and that's just the Democrats... The Republicans take it to a whole new level.
I truly feel sorry for the USA right now. A fascists in power slowly turning the country into a dictatorship with a howling fan base, all of them oblivious to the realities.
The problems in your country started awhile back in the 80s. Warnings we're made of what would happen. No one is really surprised by the president who's in power. It was bound to happen sooner or later.
The world is a regressive mess right now. This is what happens when you have a large older population remembering the 'good ol' days'...

I ain't surprised. So this is what draining the swamp is supposed to look like, right????
On a serious note, I have never been more embarrassed, confused, and disappointed by the state of affairs here in the States. I'm truly dumbfounded.

While I'm enjoying the lil Pixel 2, I'm debating about getting something else as my daily and picking up a Panda. The battery life and the no headphone jack are a real sore point here. It's harder to mitigate the battery life though.
It's all at thinking stage. No crazy immediate moves are on the horizon.
