WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I think its a bummer since we hardly get snow in the valley there is this myth or whatever that it snows in the valley once every 10 years. Not sure if true but so far it has happend
I know it's always a bit more special seeing snow where you live but as MIA pointed out there's lots of places to see snow in the USA.

We're probably done with snow for the year in Paris. Definitely at my farm as it's already in double digits.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Love the in hand feel of the XZ3. Sony did a nice job hardware wise of their refinement of the XZ2 design. I felt like the addressed some of the concerns I had with the XZ2 (but chipped away at some of its portly personality). I'm indifferent about how they did the curves on the screen. It is narrow enough but not as much as a Samsung device. I can see why palm rejection when used NG the display may be a pain in the *** for smaller hands. Comparatively, the XZ2 Premium feels a bit too wide for my taste.

Also, the XZ3 doesn't feel as fast as the XZ2. I think this was a 4GB RAM mode I tried. I'd love to try. The first green this time isn't as pronounced as on the XZ2. Also, I don't use the Sony launcher, so I'd love to drop Nova or Niagara on it and disable some junk to really test the pace of the phone.

9.0 looks the same like 8.1 did, minus the theming engine. No gestures (would rather have it and turn it off). Meh all around there.

Having used the G7+, the size bump to the V40 isn't as bad as it once was. It is still a bit too bigger than I'd want. I do appreciate the fact that the G7/V40 isn't as narrow as a S9/Note 9. I think LG missed a serious chance last year with both the G7 and V40 not being as complete products as they needed to be. Rock solid is good, viable and complete alternatives are better.

Just some other things to salivate on and consider.
I'll have to go take another look at both of the Sony phones again. Still not convinced myself.

Not sure what to do. I'll need to get a new phone soon(ish) as my battery just isn't holding up as it should. Looking around April/May maybe even June.

Ah, public transport...

Early morning and some guy is singing while walking around in circles. Wouldn't be so bad if his voice was a bit better...

Found out the cleaners in France are the same as the cleaners in the UK. My desk looked like a bomb hit it.

Yes I understand the cleaners have a certain amount of time to do things. I just found out amusing how similar it was.

I'll trade you that person for a dude in a heated conversation with himself, violently kicking the train doors intermittently while the train is in motion.

At least they try to clean yours. We just get the trash taken out. Maybe the occasional floor sweeping.

It's once a week here I think. For desks and carpets.

Everything else is daily or twice daily.

I've seen outbursts like that on trains and other public transport.

I have lots of stories as I'm sure you do too. I can only imagine what you run into...

Same but change sweeping to vacuuming. We get our carpets cleaned once a year. To be fair, our desks can have financial things going on at times so maybe it's better to leave our messy desks alone. lol

I'm wondering it's truly possible to be into tech but never cave unless it's something that makes sense for the individual. I feel like I'm exploring that line or at least work at it this year.

I used to be into tech a lot. Not just phones but all tech. I still am to an extent but what I do different these days is I investigate what I like, compare, etc then check things out in person, then buy. I don't like to spontaneously buy something just because.

Also as I get older constant change for change sake makes no sense to me. Sure I understand the try and see thing but that just seems like FOMO to me. I don't suffer from that.

It's now standard to see housing insecure people in the subway cars (especially during AM rush hour). It makes sense as those are the warmest parts of subway system.

You have great willpower. I'm working on being that way. I'm planning to buy a home after I graduate and it's just me so I'm trying to hold off on the random changes that don't need to be made.

That's pretty much how to handle things. Have other priorities for your money.

Tech is great and I enjoy it but there's more important things in life than the latest and greatest toys.

It's the same anywhere there's a public transport system. Homeless people ride the bus all day or if possible night. It's sad we're at this place still in society.

In the UK homelessness has increased quite a bit in the last few years and so has food bank use. There was a rather condeming UN report recently that pretty much got ignored.

Unfortunately in the UK it's all about the financial services. It's part of the reason the rich people want Brexit so badly.

All I've got to say is that clapping by Pelosi has got to be the best thing that's happened since 45 took office. She said so much with a clap and a look.

She pretty much spoke for a lot of people without saying a word.

That may be true, but it's a bit different on a train car than a bus.

I had a transgendered client during my 1st year internship that used to sleep on the subway cars. While she experienced harassment and violence on a few occasions, she stated comparatively, she was safer there than on the street or some of the shelters she has been in. That same year I had another client who used to sleep on the Staten Island ferry. Most average commuters will leave a housing insecure person alone on a section of the car, especially if they have a ton of stuff and haven't showered in a while. In some cases, people don't want to be in the same car.

The shelters are just as rough as the jails here, in some cases, some may argue the jails are a wee bit safer. That's why some housing insecure folks who rather freeze in the cold than be inside. There's something radically wrong with that.

It's just sad all around.
