WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Finally got around to selling some of the horses in my stable. Got rid of the S8+, iPhone 8+ and Note 8. Bought (purely for gits & shiggles) the Xr. Nice little phone which has surprised me with the battery life. Don’t even notice the notch and the gestures are meh - won’t make me forget webOS anytime soon. But could someone please explain Face ID to me? Why must I still have to swipe up to unlock after the fruit recognizes my mug?

Anyhoo, now I have to tackle the tablet end of the barn. Surface Go 8/128, iPad Pro 12.9 and iPad 2018. The HP Touchpad is off limits, it’s probably going with me to my final destination. The Go is very good but the 9.7 iPad feels bigger due to better apps - in other words, buh-bye. The 12.9 is quite the unwieldy beast and not on-the-go friendly. It’ll be a tough choice all things considered.

Wow congrats! It sounds like you did a massive cleaning. As for the face ID thing, I think that can be adjusted but I don't have an iPhone that I can check that with.

Yeah the Xr does have some nice battery life. 2 phones later, I still miss that.

I wish you good luck with selling the extra tablets.

So more pictures.

Now we weren't trying to go to tourist areas. Just that the embassy is right near the Eiffel Tower and we had one other place we wanted to go to which took us past other tourist parts. We then decided to go check out an another area near by. We just took our time and we're on a journey. All walking. Paris is easy to walk around and bike around and the transportation is great.

Another picture of the Eiffel Tower. This gives you perspective. The other thing I'll mention is that they've changed things here. You used to be able to walk under the tower without a ticket now they've blocked it off. I think this is to ensure security. At least you can still get close to it.

Went to soak in the hot springs today.
Saw some of the super bloom because of the good rainfall this year in California.

Also it is the monarch butterfly migration season and so lots and lots of butterflies today as well. Since we were in the Palm Springs area here are some nice palms at the Desert Hotel Spa.

May need to do some housekeeping myself. I'm noticing that these super narrow 18:9 screens are horrible (to me) for reading documents and books. Not a fan of the extra scrolling.

Ah, I didn't even think about that effect. You have a valid point.

For reference, this Xr I’m sporting has a 6.1” screen and the Lumia 1520 had a “smaller” 6” screen. Put ‘em side by side and tell me what you think.

16:9 is better to read on, as far as a phone size goes. On these narrower 18:9 phones, I have to turn the phone in landscape to better read pdfs. Pinch to zoom and back is more tricky for me. It's not a fan experience.

I get what you're saying. I prefer portrait mode, rather than landscape mode when reading documents that are typically in A4 or 8.5x11 format.
