It's a bit weird. I'm packing for Sicily but I'm having to think about what to take because we're going up Mt. Etna, which is a live volcanoe but it's cold up there most of the time.

Though looking at the weather it's going to be around 14-16C and sunny when we're there.

This is if course colder than the average 33C it's going to be in Sicily down the mountain.

It's a bit like packing for a trip to Australia in December. It's boiling there but freezing here.

Today was an exercise in places where I can walk and have to professionally. Some good came out of the day, even in the most difficult of situations.

That's such a good way to look at it.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I did something that I haven't done in a while. I took a day off in the middle of the week and it was great. It was fun to do an afternoon game on a weekday. I'll have to do this again sometime! I didn't think about work at all.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

As much as I'm enjoying the V35, I'm seriously thinking about getting a dual Sim as a daily driver. I will wait though as what I want to do is do some independent work outside of my current job. I'd like to add a business line to do so. Maybe I go the Google fi route for that, instead of adding another tmobile line.

If I do, I want a Xiaomi - maybe a Mix 3. Or maybe I get the X 1 dual Sim. Or the 9.1 Purview (or the 9 Pureview) dual to keep the smaller form factor.

It's still a thought, so nothing immediate.

I hate having a cold in the middle of summer - anytime really isn't ideal but in the middle of summer just feels wrong.

I'll agree with that. I've had a few of those in the past.

I've been lucky enough to avoid colds so far in France. Allergies on the other hand...

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

One of the only restaurant who has this on the menu.. for about USD17 for two items for dinner without drinks/bev

That's pretty good. France is a lot more expensive for 'the menu' you can typically get. Average is about €16 for 'cheap' places. So truffles wouldn't be part of that. ;P

Sometimes I drop $100 in a place with the gf and go "if I could eat the ambience I would because the food itself ain't all that".

I think between that and her vacillation with the restaurant scene makes me not hunt for as much places as I usually do. But I need to find a new place to add to the list as we beat the ones she likes to death.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Well, almost the end of the day here. I'm on vacation after this. A much needed one.

Not having the best day as I still don't have my new contract. I sort of blew up on the agency I deal with. They're playing pass the buck with the company. I don't have my contract over a 'technicality' between the agency and the company. Instead of the agency being flexible, which they could do, they rather stick to this stupid little detail and not give me my contract.

So, by French law standards I technically don't have a job. Luckily I don't have to prove I have a job.

It's pretty sad that it's like this.

The annoying part is that due to the contract agreements the only way out of this is by my finding a new job so I can change agencies. I may have to do this.

This agency has been a right pain since the beginning. I would be very happy to see the back end of them.

Don't like being this annoyed just before vacation. Don't feel good about losing my cool but it's been six months of annoyance with them.

Well this day got better.

I'm now at the mechanics. My breaks started making noise.

Yeah really needed that...

I feel your pain. I’ve had the head cold from hell for about 2 weeks now, my ribcage is very sore from all the coughing.

I won't lie, I quick glanced this and thought I saw something else that would camp me out in Laura's doghouse. Too tired from this week, particularly yesterday.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

So more pet updates. I ordered a new set of lights for the fish. Since the vacation, they hate the overhead white light, so hopefully these side ones will help restore their sleep cycle and reduce stress. There are 5 now - all glofish but two different variants. Blue, purple, yellow, orange and green are their colors. I wanted to do live plants but the tank is too small and we are both too busy to monitor those daily. So I put back the coral deco in there and they have to make due with that for now.

Need to retire the buckets for water changes too. Too stressful for me and the fish, although I think they kinda like the new clean smell. There's a vacuum system that hooks up to a sink I want to get before some of the upgrades below. I'll get that in a few weeks.

I'll see how they adjust and then will go up to a 20 gal high tank with two snails in there to keep the bottom clean. I'd like to shift in the new tank to driftwood, sand substrate and live plants to give them a more rich and natural ecosystem. I'd still like to keep the 10 gal active with two slightly larger fish. The issue now is there's no one to feed them when we go away on extended trips. The GF keeps ducking the answer to that question.

Sigh. Damn money pits. Lol.
