WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Popped into B&H briefly. Here are my thoughts...

1) Love the X 1 in the purp. G Cam port, LG cam, doesn't matter as it won't do it justice. If I bought this phone, purp first and white second. 20190801_172816.jpeg

2) Not impressed by the Galaxy A80. Their flip camera implementation here makes the phone bigger than needed.

3) Impressed by the 9 Pureview...@$499, not $699. It feels zipper than the last time I demoed it, and thats good to see. Makes a great case, bettered only by...

4) Note 9 in white for the $599 price. Even though these are sales prices, I'd pick the Note here all day.

5) My surprise was the Mi 9T/K20. Love the screen, in hand feel. Has a 3.5mm, pop up cam is nicely hidden (I'd never use it so it's all screen for me. Sits nicely in hand like the wider V35 style phones. SD730 and 4000mah battery should be good endurance. Niggles are no microSD and Qi, but I'd love to grab the K20 Pro with US bands and 128GB. I could certainly use it as the dual phone daily driver with the business line. (Wanted to see a Zenfone 6, but it wasn't here sadly). View attachment 14111920190801_173248_HDR.jpeg

It's a good time to be a consumer in anything other than the high end market.

I actually liked the Nokia offerings I saw at B&H. I can see why people bought a 7.1, especially in that silver and copper trim. There's good value to be had if you don't need the kitchen sink.

I saw the V40 and G8 and was unmoved. Guess I just thought that the G7 and V35 design wise were in a nice place last year and both the V40 and G8 have made smart changes but have aged the design in a stale sort of way.

I think for me, I can get away with the lack of a 3.5mm on a phone as these wireless buds from a music standpoint are adequate enough. For calls, I don't like them though.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

So more pet updates. I ordered a new set of lights for the fish. Since the vacation, they hate the overhead white light, so hopefully these side ones will help restore their sleep cycle and reduce stress. There are 5 now - all glofish but two different variants. Blue, purple, yellow, orange and green are their colors. I wanted to do live plants but the tank is too small and we are both too busy to monitor those daily. So I put back the coral deco in there and they have to make due with that for now.

Need to retire the buckets for water changes too. Too stressful for me and the fish, although I think they kinda like the new clean smell. There's a vacuum system that hooks up to a sink I want to get before some of the upgrades below. I'll get that in a few weeks.

I'll see how they adjust and then will go up to a 20 gal high tank with two snails in there to keep the bottom clean. I'd like to shift in the new tank to driftwood, sand substrate and live plants to give them a more rich and natural ecosystem. I'd still like to keep the 10 gal active with two slightly larger fish. The issue now is there's no one to feed them when we go away on extended trips. The GF keeps ducking the answer to that question.

Sigh. Damn money pits. Lol.
Mate 20 pro shots of the new lighting. Living room light is off, main tank lighting is off, and it's dusk here. Just auto mode, nothing fancy. Will post V35 shots too. IMG_20190801_191829.jpegIMG_20190801_191830.jpegIMG_20190801_191836.jpeg

Here's the V35 samples. G Cam port with the lights off. First regular, second with Night sight. The third is regular with the lights on. IMG_20190801_190424.jpegIMG_20190801_190445.jpegIMG_20190801_192546.jpeg

These fish sound like they are very well maintained by y'all.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I was waiting for Baskin Robbins vegan ice cream flavors ever since I heard about it. I tried a flavor with a single scoop and I really liked it actually. I'll probably do it again.

I have wanted to try the non-dairy ice creams in the grocery stores but getting a bucket or pint(?) was something I couldn't be bothered with. I like ice cream but it's not something I would really miss if I don't have it for a while.

Next is LG cam. The first is manual and the second is auto with the lights on. The Thurs is auto and the fourth is manual with the lights off. 20190801_193522.jpegIMG_20190801_192546.jpeg20190801_190409.jpeg20190801_192458.jpeg

I'm not going to say that she wanted the fish initially and now I do most of the work...

...but that's exactly what has happened...

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Thanks for sharing this, it's really interesting to see the slight differences.
I think that if you account for photographer errors, it shows that in tough conditions like these, the differences between the cameras are slight...and in some ways boil down rk personal preference.

I say tough conditions as the living room lighting, and the lighting in general, has always been garbage in this apartment.

If you ever decide to be a wife or in a long term relationship, you'll be pulling rank like this with regularly, so...
Valid point. I believe this to be true, but I hope for a teamwork situation.

I'll let the more seasoned people here comment on this one. All I'll say is everyone pulls rank on something all the time. Some people are aware and try to be considerate. Some are aware and pull rank on purpose. And some are unaware of both pulling rank and its effects.

Teamwork like groupwork in school is a messy affair.

This isn't a referendum on her in this case. Nor am I throwing her under the bus. What happened was she wanted fish. It wasn't a discussion - she wanted them. She bought the initial setup and all. She tried to pull me into taking care of them afterwards and I resisted initially. I knew she was going to find it to be more labor intensive than she thought and shortly into the process, she admitted that. Then I just decided to do most of it to ensure the fish got the maintenance they need. So they're really her fish that I maintain. Lol.

The reason why I didn't own pets myself of any kind before is thinking about who takes care of them when I'm not around based on how my life is currently constructed.
