So does B&H have a matching promotion. Interesting indeed. So Best buy had the 9 Pureview on sale for $400.
Would have done it? Sure. Did I have the extra to do it? Nope. I'll pick up one eventually.

Thanks for sharing.
Some people want the cameras to do the work, some people like to be more involved in the picture taking process.
They've started to do so slowly but surely. I'll continue to wait it out.Wait until they do a clearance on it....
That's the thing though. Even with the physical limitations, there's still the expectation to merely focus and snap and look great on Instagram with phone cameras. It was nice go have the Pixel 2 for moments like that when you want to be mindless. For moments I wanted to be more involved, I was stuck without that option.I guess.
It kind of reminds me of people who think owning a DSLR camera makes them take better pictures...
Smartphone cameras are decent point and shoots. That's all I'll really give them. Software compensates for physics but only so much.

So something interesting.
I really really hate the way Android works with SMS backups. The fact you can't just select a backup without having to do a reset and use it is very annoying and frustrating. What year are we in that this is still a thing?
Anyway, since I was going to reset I decided to do a fresh install instead.
Fingerprint scanner works WAY better than it used to, it's almost what I would expect one to be. So that's good.
Haven't done anything else yet but I'm now curious about camera etc. I don't think any updates have happened for CinemaPro or the other additions on the Xperia 5.
The CinemaPro app has a long way to go in my view.
I would suggest using Sms backup and restore if/when you have to do this again. No need to do a reset but I do agree so I never use it.
Glad to hear that the fingerpint scanner is working better.
Don't care to be in regular pictures, much less selfies...so I'll pass. Like you I believe if you learn to work the camera you have access to (unless you're ts just bad equipment), you'll take good shots.Maybe if selfies are you thing everywhere than I guess. But if you want good shots for Instagram then you're looking at DSLR and editing. Most of the influencers (so hate that term) use DSLRs or some equivalent.
It's a real crowded market now on Instagram so unless you're sharing for just the people you know or have some unique angle it's unlikely you'll get much traction.
You're spot on here. More of the quality is a result of the photographer rather than the camera. I've gotten great photos from the cheap cameras that were disposable (shoot roll and take in to be developed or toss). I've also gotten great photos from old feature phone cameras. I also have friends who couldn't get decent photos if they had Leica or Hasselblad cameras at their use.I guess.
