"the best camera is the one that's always with you"
sounds cliche but this was the first thing that came in my mind after i took this photo. This picture is very special to me because this is the first street photograph taken from my Lumia1020, I was about to go to work when i saw this street performance, I was very glad I have this phone with me. I was amazed by its zoom capability without damaging the image quality
I was wandering in the tiny harbor of Le Palais on the small island of Belle-Ile (France) when I saw this strange platform... At first it seemed ugly, but finally it felt strangely calm and out of place near all the other yachts.. I couldn't help but to wonder what was the purpose of all these washing-machine drums that were tied to it.. and took this picture with my Lumia 1020.
I ajusted it with Nokia Studio.
For the record; after some reasearch I found out that the washing machine drums were used by local fishermen for some fishing technique I guess.

Story: - I am from Mumbai. It has two names, City of Dreams and City that Never Sleeps and the thing that keeps it going is the Mumbai's rail network also rightly called as The Lifeline of Mumbai, and I think its appropriate the trains don't stop irrespective of the weather, day and date. You just simply can't take the railways out of a Mumbaikar. Here is my salute to Mumbai Railways.

I typically enjoy the stormy evenings on the rooftop at my place. I do often get to see these lightnings. A couple of years earlier, I captured a single lightning strike, similar to this one using my camera, which happened to be an advanced point and shoot. After I got a DSLR and lots of other gadgets, I tried a lot to shoot lightnings. However, results were not even close to satisfactory.
12th June, this year (got my L1320 on Feb), I was at the rooftop, enjoying the view. The lightnings, somehow, they fall more or less in the same place (and the same happened a couple of years back too). So thought to fetching my DSLR, but I was afraid that I would just miss the moment. So, I took out my phone, as I remembered the quote: "The best camera is the one that you have with you." I do not know who said it, but I had complete faith in my Lumia, even though it was not the phone that is famous for its camera.
The lighting conditions were perfect for shooting at ISO100; I switched to manual focus and focused at infinity, set the shutter to 1s and left everything else as they were. The trick was to reduce the 'shutter lag'. This one was captured after 42 tries (42 or 46...I do not remember that well, but it was over 40). I had my phone firmly held against the railing. I got lucky!
After that, did some basic corrections in Fhotoroom and then did the rest on BLACK. The image accidently got deleted months later, along with other good photos I took. Thankfully, these were automatically backed up to OneDrive.
Photo taken on Nokia Lumia 920 and applied only the B&W filter with Adobe Photoshop Express.
