weird issue with image quality on lockscreen

Hey guys,

Quick question for you. My gf and I have both a lumia 920. I remember being amazed by the screen quality when i first got it. Even if it's now a little outdated, it's still nice... or so i thought it was.

I recently realized that my screen looks kinda low-res... let me explain.

I look at my lockscreen today and noticed that an image that was once vibrant seemed pretty average. I checked my gf's 920 and looked at the exact same wallpaper... i was shocked to see the difference between the 2! Hers is still sharp and detailed. The same image on mine looked pretty aweful in comparison. It's like my screen resolution changed somehow.

I also noticed that my camera is aweful compare to hers as well. My 920 seems to be dying slowly i guess.

However, regarding my screen, i have a screen protector while my gf doesn't. That could explain the difference between the 2 but i doubt it. It is kinda odd that the difference is so obvious. I don't think a screen protector would degrade the image quality that much, or does it?

I'm a bit worried as this seems very strange...i'm not getting the yellow tint that others are getting nor the burn effect...

Yep, we're both running the 8.1 DP.

The only difference i can see on the lockscreen is that i'm using amazing weather hd while my gf uses the regular photo setting on hers.

However, i checked several wallpapers that we have in common in the photo app and apart from a few where the difference was not that obvious, most of the images appeared way better on hers. They looked washed out, with less details on mine.

Already checked that as well... we're both using the same neutral settings :(

I guess it may be my screen protector that's too thick. I don't know what the issue could be otherwise. I may try to reset my phone at some point as well and see if that fixes both my camera issue and screen image quality.

What kind of screen protector have you got installed on your Lumia? I am a fan of those typical matte and anti-glare/reflection type of protectors. However they actually do degrade the image quality. I just recently noticed when I got an unprotected 925 in my hands, it has the same screen like my 1020 but it looked noticeably better.

Also some screen protectors come with certain coatings which can get off over time when not cleaned the right way. However this shouldn't actually affect image quality and rather looks like dirt and grease which won't come off.

The easiest way to find out is actually by removing the screen protector. You could also try to post some decent comparison photos so we can have a look at it.
