What are steps to set up new 1520.3 on AT&T?

After seeing no new flagship phone announcements, I decided to get off the fence and finally buy a 1520.

I am on AT&T, but I really am used to the wireless (Qi) charging on my Lumia 920, and I don't want to give that up. So I ordered a 1520 (RM-938) from B&H. It should be here by Wednesday.

Can someone tell me what I will need to do to set this up to work on AT&T, and what I need to do to get it upgraded to 8.1?

I don't know what values you need to add/change in the settings. When I bought mine for T-Mobile, I needed a nano SIM for the 1520.3 so had to hit the T-Mobile store anyway for a free SIM. They installed the SIM and made any change to the settings. I really don't know if any were needed, but if you don't get answers here or need a new SIM, just go to an AT&T store and they should do it.

My T-Mobile store was out of nano SIMs (iPhone 6 mania I guess?) so they cut my micro to fit. I popped it in, turned on the phone and had LTE and was able to text and make calls in a matter of minutes. I would imagine if it's ATT SIM the process will be the same.

As far as 8.1 I did all that before I left the house with it. I went through the initial setup then went to Settings>Phone Update. It had to go through 2 updates (1 to prep for 8.1, the 1 to install it) but it was a pretty easy process.

Just an FYI - my 1520, also from B&H, defaulted to Spanish when I first turned it on so I had to switch the language to English US.

I just got the exact same phone(1520.3) from B&H. I'm coming from an iphone 5 so I just plugged in my nano sim card and away it went. From what phone are you switching?

I'm still struggling with transferring text messages from the iphone to the 1520. The Nokia "transfer my Data" app was only able to import my contacts.

1) Insert Nano-SIM
2) Insert microSDXC - If you haven't bought one you should. Size and T-Mobile/AT&T compatibility aside, it's really the biggest benefit of the 1520.3.
3) Turn on phone. It will automatically read from the Nano-SIM for the correct APN settings.

You should not setup the phone without inserting a Nano-SIM. My case:

1020 switching from AT&T to T-Mobile
1) Unlock device (not applicable for you)
2) Obtain Micro-SIM from T-Mobile
3) Swap out SIMs
3) Look for correct APN settings for approximately 30 minutes
4) Configure APN settings manually

If you want to avoid all that, follow the first set of steps.

I did the same thing. I switched over from the Lumia 920. I did all the setup over WiFi first, downloaded all the apps I wanted, signed up again for the Developer Preview program, and then went over to At&T and told them I needed a nano sim. They gave me one for free and it was quick. The service was activated within a few minutes. I did the speedtest to make sure I was on LTE (and I was) and I made sure that I was able to get an MMS. And that was it. It was real quick and no issues so far.

I didn't want to drive to an AT&T store for a nano SIM. Bought an inexpensive SIM cutter from Amazon and have been enjoying the 1520 ever since.

Did any of you have any issues using the hotspot feature? I would like to get one but I need it to tether so I can use my surface pro.
