This is burn-in. It's what happens when the user sets the screen to time out after an extended period of time or never, leaving the start screen displayed whenever the phone is not in use. You can reduce that time in the lock screen settings, but it's too late for that phone.

Burn-in is why screen savers were invented for computer monitors.

thanks for the fact...who knew you could learn something new at 4 un the morning! :D

Bad burn-in. I've never actually seen it on anyone's phone, just on phones on display at wireless carrier stores.

nope, plasmas are notorious for it because the entire concept of pasma screens rely on wearing out over time (the burn in on a plasma is actually very different then that of an lcd, for a plasma its because that particular part of the screen is worn out more than the rest.. commonly notice when watching movies with the incorrect aspect ratio often, also fun fact, plasmas actually look worse right out of the box then after a week of use) where as LCD is caused by an image being displayed at the same exact spot for long periods of time causing the pixels to just get stuck there, its also.. as you can see, a problem with OLED's which saddens me.. until i heard about the 925's oled burn in issue i thought oled was immune.. I abused my old zuneHD by leaving it on all the time for years... never did get any type of burnin.. maybe its an issue with amoled, but im rambling now.
