What can I do to ensure my battery health?

I'm not talking about "what can I do to make it through the day". I'm talking about hot to prevent damage to the battery.
I've read people saying to avoid going below 10% charge, or leaving the phone plugged. Some say wireless is healthier for the battery, others say it's ok to charge it to 100% whenever you want (which defeats the purpose of having a long lasting battery in my humble opinion).
I have a lumia 1020 and well... it was not a cheap phone and I hope I can use it for 3 years or more. (hell, I won't discard a phone with such an awesome cammera just because there is a new model :P)

What I'm asking is what can you advise me to do so that I can ensure my phone battery will keep healthy through the years. (For example, I usually let it go down to 5% and then I plug and charge it full, like a laptop... is this good?)

Hopefully this will provide help for other people regardless the phone model and brand :)

I've read that li-ion and li-poly batteries like to be full. Keep them over 50% as much as possible, so if you're home, plug it in, don't intentionally leave it to get empty, these new batteries don't like that for some reason. I don't feel like doing whole research right now, but there's been plenty written about batteries on the internet.

Keeping your phone charged doesn't defeat the purpose of long lasting battery, if you don't have a chance to plug it in, it will be fine, and long lasting battery will server well, if you're near a charger, top it up.

Awesome! Thanx a lot for the advises :) i will start to put them in practice right away!
First thing I will do is to enable battery saver hehe n__n thanx again guys :D

But if you keep it plugged in quite often doesn't it burn the inside of the battery and that will shorten its life. I could be so wrong. Just wondering as i have a 1520 and cant replace the battery unless i take it to a specialist

Erm... No. Modern batteries have circuits that cut off charge when full. Don't worry about the battery, just use it as you like...

I keep that off too, it just disables background services when battery is low. It can make you miss an email for example, unless you check for it manually.
