What's up with People app and accent color - is this a bug?

Why does the People app insist on using the accent color as the main/background color? My accent color is yellow and having it as the background color here results in a bewildering white text on yellow. Is this a bug or is this the way W10 apps should behave? Is there a workaround (other than changing the accent color)? And why on earth is native Microsoft application having such an issue like this? Especially when other tabs (call, Newest, History) of the app work just as they're supposed to (black bg, yellow accent).
