What's up with the secrecy???

By the time of the Nokia event Jellybean had been out for over a month and IOS 6 was done except for the final bug-fixing, so that reasoning doesn't really hold up. I suspect that they have already shown (or at least announced) all of the killer features in WP8. I think all we're missing are the improvements to the standard apps, and announcements about the new WP8-specific apps and games. But you never know.

Except that google is already hard at work on the next version of Android, currently code-named Key Lime Pie. And it's entirely possible it will RTM before the Lumia 920 lands in all markets.

True, but that's an argument for Microsoft to never release WP8 at all.

KLP won't be out for another 10 months or so, and won't be widely available for another 6-8 months after that. WP8 releases in a month, which still gives Google plenty of time to copy it. If Microsoft is seriously worried about Google copying their features for KLP then they might want to keep WP8 a secret for another year or two. Or they could release WP8 with just the currently-revealed feature set, and roll out the rest a month after KLP is released.
