What's your next upgrade after the 920?

Sold my 920 while it was still working well, i was concerned over weakening battery. Picked up a 635 for $39 that in many ways is a sidegrade or better. 830 specs don't impress me at all, although when they drop to $150 off contract i might grab one. From here i might just sit on the sidelines until Win 10 comes out and we say how the whole update process shakes out.

I do recommend trying to find someplace you can try the 830 in person, to make sure you like the feel. I got an 830 from ATT after cracking the screen on my 920. I liked how light the 830 was, and the battery life seemed better, with no noticeable performance drop off any kind. Sensor core was also cool.

But I couldn't live with the camera. Maybe I had a bad device but in the week i had it I did not get a single picture that was comparable to my 920. The screen wasn't quite as nice either. It was very good overall, and the contrast was great but colors were a little off compared to my 920 and the slightly lower ppi was a minor annoyance.

The other issue was just it's size and balance. Being a little taller, wider and lighter meant it never really rested solidly in my hand. It also meant i couldn't use it one handed without really stretching. Holding it left handed I could just barely reach the search button and often hit the back button as i reached across. Oh, and the side buttons were not well-placed for me. My fingers just didn't fit well between the buttons.

I ended up returning the 830 and getting a 1020 (which was $100 less than the 830). It was like having my trusty 920 back, just with a better camera and a much more comfortable weight. I love it. Now if only the camera wasn't so slow....

My concern with the 830 was the processor. It's a great device right now but the 920 tired me of resuming screens increasing annoyance the more WP was updated. That and the gpu being lightweight I felt the only choice was the M8. Wouldn't have been my 1st choice Vs a Lumia, but hey thanks for nothing AT&T and MS.

The M8 is nice, not perfect, but I'm happy with the choice.

For you guys talking batteries and screens - the whole LCD/frame is only about $40 (aftermarket, but good quality), and is an easy swap. The battery is only about 3 screws to replace, and is very easy. I just broke my 920 screen, so I replaced it (digitizer only - instructions are on this site). That will hold me out til I can get a 930. After playing around with a 1520 and a 929, I am sort of obsessed right now with getting a 930. That Icon screen is awesome, the phone is light, and it is smooth and fast. The 1520 is a heck of a device as well, but it is a little large for me to carry around on a daily basis.

I don't think I can go back to Android though. Got my wife an S5 - great phone, to be sure. I came to the 920 from an S3 - just can't see going back to Android.

So I'm pleased to announce that I bit the bullet and have ordered an 830! I will receive it by the end of the week. I will post some thoughts and feedback next week to see how my transition from the 920 goes. Thanks to everyone for their insight!

Well a few weeks after my post, I finally grew tired of my cracked 920 and when I saw the 635 for TMobile for $68... went ahead and got it. Honestly, it's just as fast as my 920, the only thing I miss is the camera. Everything else works just the same - the screen resolution is lower, but if you're not comparing both phones next to each other, it looks perfectly fine, great colors actually.

Hello guys, ATM im solving the same issue what to do with my L920, im quite happy with it, what kills me is the weight, and the heating when I take more pictures and video, had played with the L830 and L930, I found the screen amazing on the L930, still I think the a 2200 battery is too little for QuadCore with that screen. The glance screen isnt importend to me that much, my main goal is to have stable phone (no android :) ) which can take at least the same photos and videos as my L920, from that what I read and saw, L830 is a really good upgrade (still can be also the Denim update on the L830), I have checked the android market, but the only devices which could I take into considerations are S4 and Z1C, still both cameras are not so good as the L830, read some really bad articled about the Z1C on the xperia forum.

Im not a gamer, play some runner or some relax game (fruit ninja, free fall), so I would take the L830.

I have been wondering what do about an upgrade myself. Both my wife and I have the L920 and we both love them. We love the windows phone and big users of the Family Room sharing lists and calendar. We are both eligible for upgrades but unsure of we really want to. We would stick with Windows Phones but I am not sure if I would even want to get a L830 or the L1520 (we are on AT&T).

The 1500s are enormous and not sure going to the 830 is worth it. I was thinking about buying 1020 to have the nicer camera and fewer bonuses over 920 but they were still about $350 to buy unlocked on Amazon. ATT only has the 630,830 and 1520 in stores near us. Any ideas if it would be better to maybe buy a 1020, upgrade to a 830/1520, or keep the 920 and see what may come out in 2015?

I'm waiting to see what is out next year. The 1020 is no better than the 920 other than the camera; the processor in the 1020 is identical to that in the 920. The 1520 is way too big for me. I don't consider the 830 worthwhile, especially at the price is costs. As a result I'm waiting.

I found some articles with this topic that M$ will not release a new phone till 09/2015 so i dont know, wait until 9/2015 and as I know if a phone is released the price is high the first months, but I think that the price of L830 and especially L930 should go down, so I bough L920, I want to buy a WP mobile device, but the options are little, maybe the L930 will be an interesting point after Denim upgrade, I see that a lot of bugs are squashed like some Amoled problems and overheating problems
