For those of you maybe on the fence or holding out until Surface Pro 5, what are the features you're looking for to make this your go to device?

For those who have purchased, why?

For me it mainly came down to the portability of the device, the size was a huge factor for me as well as the 2 in 1 capabilities. That with the dock has given me the best of all worlds.

What about you guys?

Hmm, I would say something like solid base like the power base readily available... I just find the touch/type cover a tad to flimsy for my liking.

I wouldn't mind a few extra ports on the power based and the whole thing with a massive slab of battery to further increase the battery life of the Surface.

That would also enable Microsoft to find a decent place to store the surface pen in my opinion. The magentic attachment is cool and handy but try keep that in place when it's in a bag or rucksack for long periods of time .

But that's just me, I'm sure others have more creative wants :).

Now with a sturdier base, where do you see this being used? Like at home on a desk? Something a little more sturdy in your lap?

I'll admit I usually use in tablet mode if I have on my lap but I can see your concerns there.

On your lap whilst you're travelling on a bus or train as not all seats in trains have tables.

Plus this way if your on a long journey you can use your base to charge your Surface. The only issue I see is that would Microsoft be able to integrate something like fast charging into the pin connector... as they need to keep somesort of continuity with their accessories suchas the dock.

Very cool idea. I live in a rural area so don't use public transit so I always find it super interesting to hear of others use.

They had a power base for the surface pro 2 but it wasn't sold in vast quantities... :grincry:

I actually won my SP 4 at a conference, but always pined for one due to the portability and having a full OS on a tablet. For SP5 I'd say a big plus would be USB C (with charging for better portability) would be amazing.

Would you like to see faster charging times?

Sure, couldn't hurt, but not a deal-breaker for me. The portability factor would be vastly improved if it was easier to charge on the go. I'm not too thrilled about having to keep an external brick with me--would be nice to be able to charge with a smaller cable setup.

Ah yes, makes sense. That would definitely give it more of that 'tablet' feel then.
