Well, I've had a long list of obscure and not so obscure smartphones. And Ive never had a smart phone that wasnt either Windows or Symbian. And Windows Mobile 5.X/6.X and Symbian S60, to date are my favorite mobile OSes, nothing Ive used ever since or before ever touched the versatility of an iPAQ or a Nokia 6680 in their element. Today's smartphones be damned. They're all just glorified App peddling and messaging/social platforms, where people dont even have any other legitimate use cases for them. Today's smart phones are what yesterday's SideKicks were. Anyways. Rant over.
Even here in Pakistan Ive had a long list of Windows devices Ive kept, used or actively maintained going back over more than the last decade or so. So not in quiet the particular order, here goes nothing.
HP iPAQ HX2490c
HTC TyTN
HTC Polaris
Lumia 520
HTC 8X
And now
Lumia 640
ATIV SE
Ive also helped maintain a bunch of iMates, and HD2s along the way somewhere. Always wanted those iMates, beautiful beautiful gorgeous devices always ahead of their time, those, and the Dell Axims. I still love those. And the HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro series were absolute design pornography. And not just for the time, but today too. Those designs stand up better today than all the new yack we see from the flood of devices on the market today, Apple/Samsung/LG all notwithstanding.
And these were interspersed with my favorite, the Nokia 6680, and a Nokia 5800 along the way. The rest have all been feature phones always, mostly from Nokia, one from Samsung that was quick to die on me. I still carry around a feature phone from a local brand, that lasts me two weeks on a charge, and a Lumia 520 - that I charge two/three times every day.
Waiting on my 640 and the ATIV SE right now as we speak.
