Why are drop down menus appearing on my screen?

Drop down menus appearing on my screen

When using my lap top to type a Word document, drop down menus automatically appear all over the screen, preventing me from being able to type anything. Even when I'm on the main menu screen drop down menus are appearing.

I can intermittently control the cursor to click the drop down menus away but they just reappear. Mostly, any movement of the cursor triggers another drop down menu, no matter where on the screen it is and no matter where I try to place it.

Question: Do you have your track pad still turned on while using a mouse?

Is it possible your hands/wrists are brushing against the track pad?

If that isn't it, make sure your pointer drivers are up-to-date. (Track Pad and/or Mouse.)
