Why can't I connect my Nokia 920 Windows 8.1 to Window 10 laptop?

[Windows Central Question]

cannot connect nokia920 window 8.1 to window 10 laptop.

I am trying to saved my picture and video files from my window 8.1 nokia lumia 920 phone to my window 10 laptop. try plugging the usb to my laptop but it doesn't seem to be able to find my phone.Please help, I need to transfer all the photo and video to my laptop to make space for my phone. thank you.

This problem is pretty common, but most of the time it turns out not be a serious problem at all. The most common solutions are:
1. Try a different cable.
2. Try a different USB port.
3. Try restarting your PC first before connecting your phone.
4. Try restarting your phone first before connecting it to your PC.
5. Try cleaning the USB port with dry buds or a can of compressed DRY air.
6. Try cleaning the port of your phone using a can of compressed DRY air.

7. Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> Devices and Printers -> "right click" on your phone -> Remove device
