Why can't I download the Windows Phone App for desktop?

Windows Phone App for desktop

I have tried to download the windows app for desktop, but it has not worked and it will not allow me to uninstall and reinstall the software - when I try to launch I get the message "This version of the Windows Phone app for desktop is already installed" - when I click OK - I get the message "Windows Phone app for desktop setup Wizard ended prematurely" - please help!!!:crying:

If you are getting problems using your Windows Phone App please try to use the Windows Explorer in order to sync your phone and PC.
You just need to connect the phone to the PC, open your Windows Explorer and double click on your phone's icon.

This allows me to upload pictures, music, documents etc - but does not allow me to sync my calendar or contacts? -

Indeed.
Calandar and contacts are automatically synced with your MS account.

It's a blessing, because because the Windows Phone app is absolute garbage.

It only appears to update details to my calendar from FB - I dont want these? How do I link it with my oulook contacts and calendar on my PC?

If your Outlook account is the same as the MS account used to sign into your phone, it should be done automatically. If not, add the necessary account.

If you still don't see it, check the settings in your calendar app to make certain the calendar events are selected.

I am not at all "techie" - I don't really know what you mean by adding my account - dont worry I will try to find one of my friends who can show me

"techie", don't know how to use your phone... semantics.

Go to "settings"; "email & accounts"; select "add acount".
