Why can't I let recipients edit photo albums on OneDrive

You used to be able to share photo albums with people and change the permission to let recipients edit the photo album. Now, you can only let people view the album. This seems to be the case on the browser edition of OneDrive as well as the iOS app. Did Microsoft remove this option? This is the only reason I used OneDrive was to have a photo album all of my family members could edit and view.

No. This option is still there. When you click share on an item, in the window that pops up, you can either invite people or share a link. If you click get link, you can select whether they can view or edit. If you invite people, below the email field you can click the Recipients can edit link and it will change to selection that will allow either view or edit, as well as whether they have to be signed in with a Microsoft account.
