I inserted an sd card on my pc, but keep getting an error message that says that I should scan it. Nothing happens when I try to scan, however the message warns of possible loss of data. {My pc data or sd data?} I'm doing this for someone else.

Sounds like a bad SD card to me. (The data loss warning is about the card.)
