Why I have only 1 disk partition after installing Windows 8.1 Pro

Hello, today I upgraded from W7 that had 2 partitions D and C to W8.1 Pro and now I only have 1 C. The 2 partitions were both 250 GB large and now I only have C that has 250 GB

First of all, please post in the appropriate forum so you can get a better answer.

As for the missing partition, few things might have happened.
- Maybe you formatted the hard drive, or deleted the other partition and now it could be an unpartitioned space. This is unlikely though, since you are saying you 'upgraded' from Windows 7 and not did a clean install. Right click Computer > Manage. Double click Storage > Disk Management. You can see the details of the volumes. See if the other volumes are there.
- The other partition is still there but not initialized. In the Disk management, right click the partition > Change drive letter and paths > give it a drive letter (D:)
