Why does my screen remain black when I pull it away from ear during/after phone call?

My screen remains black when I pull it away from ear during/after phone call

This is a new issue since updated to 8.1. When I'm in a phone call, and pull away to disconnect my screen remains black and I have to press the power button twice to bring my screen back. Sometimes when I get a text, my screen no longer turns on like it used to either. Is there a way to fix this?

I think you already know to clean the screen over the proximity sensor?

You could try a Soft Reset... Hold the Power + Volume Down buttons until the phone vibrates and reboots (about 10 seconds).

If that doesn't work, make a back up and reset your phone in Settings > about.

If the issue still occurs you have a hardware problem.
