Why does the volume setting return to 8 when switching off?

Why does the volume setting return to 8 when switching off

I turn my Nokia 625 off at night , but when turning on again the volume setting returns to setting 8 even though I set it to 30 previously before turning off. This is irritating as if I forget to reset the volume I cannot hear the devise ringing
