Why is my PowerPoint (2013) no longer working after a Microsoft update?

My desktop (PC) and Laptop (PC) both just did scheduled updates (Microsoft 2013). Now, on both machines, I cannot get PowerPoint to open. I get the message that it has "stopped working." I have read some of the previous posts but they seem to be almost a year old. Any suggestions?

Got to control panel, uninstall programs and find microsoft office. Click on it and select repair. It's repair, not uninstall. It might help
